The Rural Development Administration held the ¡°2023 Agriculture Science Technology Performance Sharing Contest¡± at aT Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on Dec. 7.
The contest was designed to make known outstanding innovation outcomes developed under rural development programs and award related people.
RDA displayed 15 research cases designated as this year¡¯s outstanding agriculture technology outcomes, while awarding agriculture technology grand prizes, convergence/multi-disciplinary cooperation team awards, outstanding agriculture promotion institution prizes and agriculture technology spread grand prizes.
The latest agriculture technology grand prizes went not only to individuals, but also to collaboration researchers. The step is designed to promote in-house cooperation at RDA¡¯s departments and collaboration among RDA, academic and industry circles.
RDA Administrator Cho Jae-ho and award winners attend 2023 Agriculture Science Technology Performance Sharing Contest.
Among the exhibits on display at the contest were products made with technologies whose contracts ranked in the ¡®top 10¡¯ before they were developed and transferred by RDA to companies.
The top three technologies included one involving rice cake, one on how to make a farming household-type, natural fermented vinegar and the other on microbial agent and biopesticide containing new microorganism Bacillus methylotrophicus GH1-13).
RDA Administrator Cho Jae-ho said, ¡°The 2023 Agriculture Science Technology Performance Sharing Contest, wrapping up one year, is hoped to serve as an opportunity to build up cooperation and communication in the agriculture R&D sector, and RDA will spearhead technology innovation in the agriculture science and technology sector to make the agriculture industry a future growth and a grain security and sustainable one.¡±
Among the 15 research projects designated as this year¡¯s ¡®outstanding agriculture technology outcomes¡¯ were two cases in the basic research category for industrialization.
They are one on smart mechanization for making the agriculture field safe and convenient and another on aging hanwoo to improve its taste.
The four picks in the basic research category for future growth include the development of animal experiment alternative pork organoid and genome editing a pig using the CRISPR/Cas9 technology, the shortening of variety development period using speed breeding, and the building of fermentation microorganism platform for the establishment of bio rights.
The four technologies in the filed commercialization category include a convergence pest diagnosis app, a farming unit, weather disaster notice service, exporting of agricultural produce using CA containers and a technology to lessen melon low temperature disorder.
Among the five technologies in the public R&D sector are homegrown rice flour, replacing imported wheat, the rice variety, dubbed ¡°Milyang No. 360,¡± designed to reduce methane gas emissions, an eco-friendly packing material using mushroom compost, a livestock product safety diagnosis sensor and the spread of homegrown rice variety designed to solve grain shortage in Africa.
