¡®Late Lotte Founder Shin Kyuk-ho, Unlimited Market Pioneer¡¯
A study on ¡°Lotte Shin Kyuk-ho, unlimited market pioneer¡± was revealed at the ¡°Japan Businessmen Research Forum¡± on Nov. 11, Lotte Group said.
The forum served as an opportunity to shed a light on the entrepreneurship of Lotte founder Shin Kyuk-ho, who made strides in businesses in both Korea and Japan.
The forum, established by Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2002, studies diverse themes, such as corporate research, manpower development and management structure and shares them with industry and academic circles.
The research on Lotte founder Shin, launched at the request of the forum, was led by Prof. Paik In-soo of Osaka University of Economics.
The research was based on interviews with former and current Lotte executives, including former president Im Seung-nam of Lotte E&C, who entered Lotte as a freshmen employee after the first public employment contest; ex-president Noh Byung-yong of Lotte Property & Development, who contributed to dedication of Lotte World Tower; and research by Shin Kyuk-ho Memorial Halls in Korea and Japan.
The study introduced Lotte founder Shin¡¯s management achievements in Korea and Japan, as well as shedding light on Shin¡¯s entrepreneurial impact on modern business administration.
It praised behavior principles founder Shin employed when he encountered limitations in the process of launching businesses in Japan and Korea, and expanding his business portfolio to the manufacturing, distribution and chemical sectors.
Founder Shin¡¯s success was owed to his innovative thinking, which was not bound by state, organization and industry category.
He had been credited with finding on-site solutions to overcome limitations, listening to views by experts hired in each area and setting foot without fearing of failures.
The study also included insights in which modern businessmen can take their cue from founder Shin. Among the insights are ¡°ambidextrous management,¡± designed to further develop the conventional businesses while preparing to find new businesses ardently, ¡°crossover management,¡± designed to form new organizations by combining people from different business areas, ¡°orchestra management,¡± designed to have synergetic effects by making the most of each person¡¯s strengths properly, and ¡°purpose management,¡± designed to attach top priority management values to the happiness of customers and next-generation people.
Prof. Paik In-soo of Osaka University of Economics announces outcomes of his study on ¡°Lotte Shin Kyuk-ho, unlimited market pioneer¡± at the ¡°Japan Businessmen Research Forum¡± on Nov. 11.
Prof. Paik of Osaka University of Economics, in charge of the study, said, ¡°It is burdensome to study founder Shin in a short period of time, who had run businesses over 100 years, and announce the outcomes, and the purpose of my future study will extract and analyze founder Shin¡¯s management innovation DNA that made strides beyond state, industry and other boundaries to offer them to many managers.¡±
