Mirae Asset Securities Chairman Choi Hyun-man, who founded Mirae Asset Group with Mirae Asset Group Chairman Park Hyeon-joo, has resigned from his position. His departure came 26 years after the financial group was established in 1997.
Mirae Asset Group carried out a dramatic reshuffle, including Mirae Asset Securities Chairman Choi, on Oct. 23.
Chairman Choi, born in 1961, co-founded Mirae Asset Group with Chairman Park, while working as a branch head of Dongwon Securities Co.
Chairman Park is known to have retained his positions as global international strategy officer (GISO) and chairman of Mirae Asset Securities Hong Kong.
Chairman Choi and another vice chairman, including Cho woong-gi and Choi Kyeong-joo, resigned.

Mirae Asset said the reshuffle was designed to establish a next-generation professional manager regime.
Mirae Asset Securities Presidents Kim Mi-seob, Huh Sun-ho and Lee Jeong-ho have been promoted to vice chairman.
Vice Chairman Kim has been credited with making achievements while working as president in charge of Mirae Asset Global Investments’ overseas corporation, CEO of Mirae Asset Global Investments, and president overseeing the global business of Mirae Asset Securities.
Vice Chairman Huh has been credited for his contributions to the growth of WM division of Mirae Asset Securities and the growth of retail businesses, such as pensions, overseas stocks, and the company’s digital strategy.
Vice Chairman Lee Jeong-ho is CEO in charge of Mirae Asset Securities Hong Kong corporation and oversees global business.
Mirae Asset Global Investments promoted President Lee Jun-yong to vice chairman. Vice Chairman Lee has been praised for bearing fruit in global investment and ETFs segments while overseeing the multi-asset investment business.
President Swarup Mohanty of Mirae Asset Securities India Corp. has been promoted to vice chairman.

Mirae Asset Life promoted President Kim Jae-sik to vice chairman.
Vice Chairman Kim comes with abundant global investment experience, and has been credited for his contributions to securing an absolute upper hand in the variable insurance market and introducing the IFRS17 regime in an efficient fashion.
Mirae Asset Group Chairman Park Hyeon-joo said, “The greatest issue Mirae Asset has so far faced since its founding 26 years ago is a generation personnel change, and we’ve decided to launch a professional manager regime preparing for more than next 10 years, putting behind humane agony and regret.”
Chairman Park expressed unlimited respect to the retiring founding members’ dedication, saying he was remembering the era in which he shared with them based on deep humane trust.
Vice Chmn. Kim Mi-seob Appointed to be Mirae Asset Securities CEO
Mirae Asset Securities appointed Vice Chairman Kim Mi-seob to be Mirae Asset Securities’ CEO on Oct. 26.
The securities company recommended Vice Chairman Huh Sun-ho and President Jeon Kyung-nam to be inside directors.
The appointments are to be approved by an extra shareholders’ meeting slated for Dec. 7. Their term is until March 2025.
