On June 21, Shinhan Financial Group carried out the “Good Winds for the Elderly Living Alone” volunteer service activity to help senior citizens living alone spend hot summer days healthy at Shinhan Financial Group Headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Participants included Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Jin Ok-dong, CEOs and executives of group affiliates to mark the start of the 2023 Global One Shinhan Volunteer Festival in Korea and abroad.
Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Jin and more than 50 executives and employees made kits for the elderly in preparation of summer heat waves.
The kits included nutritious foods, such as Samgyetang (chicken ginseng soup) and abalone porridge, as well as various summer household items like portable electric fans, cool blankets, and cool pain relief patches.
Shinhan Financial Group will also donate summer kits worth 200 million won to the General Support Center for the Elderly Living Alone.
The center has received 3.2 billion won worth of summer goods from Shinhan Financial Group over the past 13 years.
Prior to the kit-making event, the Shinhan chairman and employees renewed their commitment to solve the world’s problems through active volunteer activities by changing the name of their volunteer service corps and held an art wall-making event using waste plastic bottle caps to show their strong will.
The Global One Shinhan Volunteer Festival is Shinhan Financial Group’s flagship volunteer program, which has been held for 16 years since 2008.
The event contributes to addressing local communities’ problems through domestic and international social contribution activities focused on coexistence (welfare), empathy (culture) and coexistence (environment).
