LS ELECTRIC, a first-generation market entrant in Vietnam, is poised to solidify its standing as the No. 1 company in the Asian low-voltage market, and make inroads into the ASEAN market by putting next-generation power solutions at the forefront.
LS ELECTRIC participated in the Electric Energy Show 2023 (ELECS 2023), which took place at Hanoi ICE (International Center for Exhibition) from May 17 to 19 and demonstrated next-generation energy technology power under the main concept ¡°Sustainable Future, Being Opened by Smart Power Solutions.¡±
LS ELECTRIC released products tailored to meet local needs at a 108 square-meter exhibition area under three themes: Green Energy Solutions, Digital Transformation Solutions and Smart Distribution Solutions.
During the fair, LS ELECTRIC displayed next-generation green smart power solutions at the front and introduced the world¡¯s top-tier DC/AC product solutions.
LS ELECTRIC showcased products tailored to meet off-shore wind power demand, such as eco-friendly transformers, g3 gas insulated switchgear (GIS), and eco-friendly reactors.
Customers¡¯ attention was expected to focus to power devices made with eco-friendly insulated materials, a mandatory step designed to protect the marine environment around off-shore wind farms.
The Vietnamese government¡¯s 8th electricity development plan calls for raising the portion of renewable energies in power generation from 9.9 percent in 2020 to 12.5 percent in 2025 and 21 percent in 2030.
Vietnam is considered one of the world¡¯s largest wind power markets since the Asian country has optimal wind power site potential with coastal lines, stretching 3,200 km in total length north and south, and winds blowing an annual average speed of 8 to 9 meters per second.
LS ELECTRIC has recently successfully commercialized a 170kV-class g3 GIS for the first time in Korea.
The g3 GIS product is designed to dramatically reduce more than 90 percent in the global warning potential (GWP), using the eco-friendly g3 in replace of the conventional SF6.
The company also displayed full packages of DC power devices, such as DC molded case circuit breakers, DC relays, and DC switch-disconnectors, stressing the world¡¯s top-tier, eco-friendly power solution technology levels and supply capabilities for the whole power grid, ranging from off-shore power generation to transmission, transformer and distribution.
LS ELECTRIC also exhibited digital transformation solutions, such as GridSol Cube, a power management platform and GridSol AMS (Asset Management System), enabling power equipment asset management optimization.
In the mid-1900s, LS ELECTRIC became the first Korean company to have entered the Vietnamese market.
The company has maintained the No. 1 position with an over 40 percent share in the low-voltage power device market of the Asian country since 2013.
LS ELECTRIC Wins 120 Billion Won ESS Project from UK
LS ELECTRIC, which has exported an energy storage system to Europe, is hitting the gas to expand into the ESS market there.
LS ELECTRIC landed a project to build a 50MW power conversion system and 114MWh battery ESS system.
The value of the project stands at about 120 billion won: 84 billion won for EPC and 36 billion for O&M. The period of the project will last until next June.
The latest project is the largest ESS project LS ELECTRIC has landed abroad.
The project calls for building an ESS system, which will stably supply electricity produced from the Botley area to the transmission network of the National Grid, UK¡¯s public entity.
LS ELECTRIC is responsible for building an ESS system and its operation, such as EPC and O&M, by making the most of smart energy capabilities the company has accumulated in the course of implementing projects in Korea and abroad. Energy Storage Systems are systems that store and manage electricity so it can be used when necessary.
Starting with the implementation of the ESS project in UK, LS ELECTRIC plans to accelerate efforts to make inroads into the European renewable market.
LS ELECTRIC has secured technologies related to renewable energies, such as the modular scalable string platform, a next-generation ESS platform, developed by the company to penetrate the global industry ESS market.
The company is expected to bear tangible outcomes there by making the most of overseas business capabilities it has accumulated from the United States and Japan on top of the technologies.
