Korea Power Exchange (KPX) held a customers¡¯ meeting designed to spur a renewable energy supply regime under a direct power purchase agreement (PPA).
The new regime targets about 100 officials of global RE100 participant companies and renewable energy suppliers, KPX said on May 19.
The direct PPA regime is a core means of achieving the global RE100, drive in which companies wanting to achieve RE100 strike PPAs with renewable energy suppliers and directly buys electricity, produced via renewable energies, such as photovoltaic power and wind power.
The meeting, hosted by KPX, lasted two hours. It was held at the grand conference room of the Seoul Railroad Station.
A direct PPA system was introduced, how to ensure institutional reform was discussed, and a question & answer session was held. Questions were gathered in advance of the course to improve customer service.
Ahn Byung-jin, head of the Power New Division at KPX, said, ¡°KPX will endeavor to help a direct PPA regime not only enhance the competitiveness of Korean exporter companies, but also contribute to spreading and expanding renewable energies in Korea.¡±

KPX Holds Session to Explain Power IT Business, Targeting SMEs and Mid-Size IT Companies
Korea Power Exchange (KPX) held a session on May 17 to explain power IT businesses, targeting SMEs and mid-size IT companies.
KPX has hosted the session every year to expand the ecosystem of the power IT system by exploring new and outstanding SMEs and mid-size IT companies and invigorate the private sector¡¯s businesses using public data.
The latest session was attended by 35 IT companies across the nation. It consisted of diverse programs designed to offer support to SMEs.
During the first session of the latest meeting, KPX offered useful information, such as raising the knowledge of the power IT system by introducing KPX, its power grid operation and power transaction systems, a public data portal utilizing KPX¡¯s public data and data curation services.
During the second session, KPX introduced informatization projects the institution will award during this year, unveiling information on IT projects in advance so companies can get a better understanding of them and spur their participation in projects.
KPX supplied information on its support to SMEs and mid-size ¡®star¡¯ enterprises, such as supporting overseas marketing activities and protecting of technologies.
A KPX official said, ¡°KPX will devote itself to promoting shared growth with SMs by eliminating market entry barriers through supporting of IT new-comers¡¯ participating in power IT projects, in addition to co-prosperity with IT companies specializing in the power IT sector, and we¡¯ll continue to better the session by gathering participants¡¯ views in the future.¡±
KPX Joins ¡®Disposable Product Zero Challenge¡¯
KPX Chairman Jung Dong-hee joined ¡°Disposal Zero Challenge,¡± hosted by the Ministry of Environment, and committed to reducing disposal products during people¡¯s daily lives.
MOE Minister Han Hwa-jin launched the campaign to expand public participation and concern for the reduction of disposable products. In order to preserve resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, KPX has made approval and reporting electronically, created a paperless environment and banned the use of disposable products in its cafeteria.
KPX Chairman Jung said, ¡°KPX will devote itself to promoting the sustainable development and protection of the environment by participating the Disposable Zero Challenge of MOE and I hope such a campaign will be spread to society.¡±
