The National Forestry Cooperative Federation (NFCF) held the 45th General Meeting at NFCF headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on March 29 and approved proposals on the 2023 business plan and budget, as well those for the election of executives and standing councilors.
The general assembly gave the go-ahead to implement projects related to the Gangwon Forestry Exhibition 2030, including a forestry development symposium, for the successful hosting of the exhibition.
The general meeting approved the retainment of current executives and standing committee members and the additional election of Chairman Woo Soo-young of the Korean Society of Forest Science as vice chairman and Chairman Jeon Jin-pyo of Korea Foresters Association as a standing committee member.
The term of the executives and standing committee members is two years, until June 27, 2025.

NFCF Implements Project to Eliminate By-Products to Prevent Bush Fires
The National Forestry Cooperative Federation (NFCF) is implementing a project to support the elimination of agricultural by-products to prevent bush fires this spring.
Of late, the government is taking steps to prevent mountaineers¡¯ erroneously causing fires and to restrict the burning of paddy and field ridges and garbage in cooperation with related organizations.
Korea Forest Service and NFCF have joined forces to implement a pilot project to gather and destroy agricultural by-products in the vicinity of forests, deemed as fuel to spread bush fires.
Under the project, NFCF has been eliminating agricultural by-products within a 100-meter radius of forests by using trucks and wood crushers. NFCF plans to play a part of preventing bush fires, responding to them and restoring any damage, according to each stage in cooperation with related organization and local governments.
Beyond these, NFCF is conducting activities to raise awareness toward the prevention of bush fires by visiting private homes nearby forests and similar drives to prevent mountain fires via broadcasting and social network service channels.
NFCF Chairman Choi Chang-ho said, ¡°NFCF will spearhead efforts to protect the safety of forests and people by building close fire prevention collaboration regimes with KFS and related organizations.¡±
NFCF is a federation entity, established on March 10, 1995, designed to represent voices of forest owners, forestry industry people and forest organizations and promote the development of the forestry industry. NFCF has a membership of 32 forest organizations.
NFCF Elects Senior Auditors, Cooperative Audit Committee Chmn.
The National Forestry Cooperative Federation (NFCF) held the 378th board of directors¡¯ meeting and the 265th regular meeting at NFCF headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on Feb. 9 and approved the election of auditors.
Elected as senior auditors at the meetings were Choi Jae-sung and Park Byung-suk. Kang Dae-jae was elected as cooperative audit committee chairman and approved a proposal on the settlement of accounts for the year 2022.
