Korea District Heating Corp. (KDHC) plans to implement an energy efficiency resource standard (EERS) project this year to conserve energy by improving the efficiency of users¡¯ old equipment, KDHC said on March 31.
An EERS establishes specific, long-term targets for energy savings that utilities or non-utility program administrators must meet through customer energy efficiency programs.
KDHC had dispatched energy efficiency improvement support teams from 19 branches to old public housing apartments, built more than 30 years ago, and conducted consulting services to 193 users until the end of March.
The project is designed to raise the national energy utilization efficiency rate and improve the quality of district heat by improving users¡¯ old equipment, based on the outcomes of the operation of the energy efficiency improvement support teams.
KDHC plans to conserve energy by a combined 22,387Gcal this year.
The project calls for funding to cover part of the cost to replace thermal insulations, install automatically controlled, conservation mode systems, conduct maintenance and repair of repressure regulating control valves and set up hot water, pre-heat exchanges with the goal of conserving 12,232Gcal.
The remaining 10,155Gcal will be saved through other energy diagnosis, defect check and education on users.
More details, such as the scope of beneficiaries and procedures, are available at the website of KDHC. The customer center can be reached at 1688-2488.
A KDHC official said, ¡°It is important to offer support in a detailed way that users can join efforts to conserve energy, and KDHC will continue to strive for energy conservation and efficiency of consumers¡¯ facilities.¡±
KDHC Offers Special Heat Bill Exemption to the Underprivileged
Korea District Heating Corp. (KDHC) will accept applications on the beneficiaries of special exemptions of heating bills targeting basic livelihood security recipients and secondary poor households from April 10, KDHC said on March 3.
The special heat bill exemption is a regime, created by the operation of a team designed to take comprehensive steps against steep heat cost hikes, headed by the KDHC president.
It is a temporary step designed to stabilize the livelihood of those in the venerable bracket, struggling with hardships, caused by energy price hikes during the winter season.
KDHC President Jung Yong-ki said, ¡°We¡¯re deeply sympathetic of the rising burden, caused by heating cost hikes, and we expect the support will somewhat contribute to stabilizing the livelihood of houses in the vulnerable energy bracket.¡± KDHC will devote itself to expanding energy welfare as an energy public entity, he said.
