Hana Bank announced on March 7 that it will implement the ¡°Cash-Back Program for Restaurant Owners¡± for one year to mitigate financial burdens on restaurant owners nationwide, who have been hit hard by high interest rates and the COVID-19 crisis.

The bank ultimately wants to pursue win-win growth with them through practical financial support.

The program was designed to help small business owners and self-employed people, in addition to fulfilling the bank's social responsibilities by returning profits, thereby providing broad support for them and providing a steppingstone for mutual growth with them.

In particular, Hana Bank decided to place top priority on giving a helping hand to self-employed people who run restaurants, which have been severely affected by COVID-19, as the rate of business closures recently increased due to a steady rise in food costs and interest rate hikes.

To this end, Hana Bank will give back an amount equivalent to 1 percent of the balance (up to 1 million won) of corporate loans (up to 100 million won) used by individual business owners operating restaurants as of the effective date.

Self-employed restaurant owners with a NICE CB credit score of 779 or less who are making regular monthly loan payments will receive a cashback amount equal to 1 percent of their loan balance in monthly installments in the form of Hana Money for one year.

The interest cash-back program will be applied to all restaurant owners nationwide who have a business loan with Hana Bank without a separate application process, improving convenience, and will be fully implemented in April following a computer test.

The program is expected to provide practical financial support to self-employed people who run restaurants.

¡°We hope that this program will provide a ray of hope for restaurant owners so that they will take heart and restart their businesses,¡± a Hana Bank official said.

¡°Hana Bank will continue to expand practical financial support that enables everyone to grow together by sharing pain and returning profits to society during these difficult times down the road.¡±

Last month, Hana Bank launched the ¡°Interest Cash-back Hope Program" for its flagship Sunshine Loan 15 product, and cut the interest rate of the New Hope Home Loan by up to 1 percentage point.

Moreover, Hana Bank has continued to provide practical financial support for the financially vulnerable by establishing a joint labor-management fund totaling 30 billion won to pay energy costs to a total of 150,000 people.

Hana Bank has introduced the ¡°Small Business Owners¡¯ Hope Program,¡± a customized financial support program for self-employed people by industry, and plans to continue to provide pin-pointing support by gradually expanding business areas to support, starting with small business owners in the restaurant and food service industry.

In the meantime, Hana Bank announced the success of the 2022-23 Hana Bank MZ Go Super Match held to provide differentiated fun and excitement for MZ generation go game fans.

The 2022-23 Hana Bank MZ Go Super Match was organized by the Korea Baduk (Go Game) Association, with Hana Bank as the title sponsor.

It was a unique go game tournament targeting the MZ generation and ran for 11 weeks. It started with the preliminary round on December 27, 2022 and ended with the final round on March 10.

MZ generation professional go game players competed in the tournament which pit five players from the M generation and the Z generation against each other.

Hana Bank expects to contribute to the popularization of go game, a global brain sport, by expanding its base through its sponsorship of the go game championship.

Hana Bank raised contribution money by donating 10,000 won per move by go game players. The money will go to help those in need.

In the final match, world No. 1 go game ranker Shin Shin-seo defeated second ranker Park Jung-hwan in 185 moves, giving the Generation Z Team the final victory.

Generation Z took home prize money of 70 million won along with a championship plaque made of eco-friendly wood.
