KEPCO KPS, a plant solution provider, held the ¡°2023 Safety and Health Officials¡¯ Workshop¡± at Bitgaram Hotel in Naju, Jeollanam-do, on Feb. 27.
It pledged to achieve the goal of making KEPCO KPS a disaster-free company, at least for serious industrial mishaps, for the fifth year in row.
The workshop, which took place in a two-day run until Feb. 28, was attended by about 80 safety and health officials from KEPCO KPS headquarters and worksites across the nation.
It was designed to comply with the government¡¯s safety policies, such as the strengthening of activities designed to prevent serious industrial disasters and establishing danger evaluation-oriented, self-discipline prevention systems and realize a safe, and healthy work environment through safety-priority management.

Participants started the workshop by reading a written pledge to achieve the serious disaster-free goal.
They shared disaster safety practices and health management activities for the year 2023, set a road map to build a regime of implementing KEPCO KPS¡¯s education and training, and underwent an education program on the building of a safety and health management system related to the act on the punishment of serious industrial disasters.
The workshop served as an opportunity to look at the pending issues related to the industrial safety and health of worksites and recommendations through communication among participants and share ideas designed to build a safe work environment and prevent serious industrial disasters rather than ending up as a simple education.
Senior Executive Vice President Huh Sang-guk, head of the Power Generation Safety Business Division, told the participants, ¡°No single serious industrial disaster has occurred at our worksites since 2019. We achieved this feat by faithfully carrying management prioritizing safety in accordance with the government¡¯s policies.¡±
He called for KEPCO KPS to do its utmost to realize a safety culture and safe work environment by ramping up safety and health activities so all KEPCO KPS staffers and cooperation company officials can perform work in a safe fashion.
KEPCO KPS plans to do its best to make the company a serious industrial disaster-free and healthy worksite by implementing diverse safety and health activities so that all workers at worksites across the nation work in a safe fashion.
KEPCO KPS Backs Installation of Photovoltaic Power Facilities at 12 Welfare Centers
KEPCO KPS has spearheaded efforts to practice energy welfare and greenhouse gas emission reduction by supporting the installation of photovoltaic power facilities at 12 welfare centers across the nation.
KEPCO KPS financed 160 million won in installing photovoltaic power facilities with a combined capacity of 66kW at 12 welfare centers, including ones in Gwangju Metropolitan City, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do and Muju-gun, Jeollauk-do, last year.
The company has implemented the project since 2019. For the past four years, KEPCO KPS has installed a combined 35 photovoltaic power facilities.
It has an impact of planting about 44,000 young trees by reducing greenhouse gas emissions 124tCO-eq annually.
With the installation of a photovoltaic power facility, each welfare center is expected to save several thousands of won in electricity fares, thus reducing its operation burden.
KEPCO KPS obtained an ¡°A¡± grade in an ESG evaluation survey by Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability and won the national speaker¡¯s prize at the Korea ESG Management Grand Prizes ceremony last year.
The company plans to carry on advanced management prioritizing the environment and social values this year.
