KEPCO KDN struck an MOU with Naver Cloud at Naver headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, on Feb. 23.
The deal is designed to help KEPCO KDN, an energy ICT company, fulfill its promise to implement joint products and demonstrate the private-public model to comply with the government¡¯s policy objective of invigorating the cloud sector.
KEPCO KDN plans to continue collaboration with companies offering new public services based on cloud platforms this year, as it did last year.
Under the agreement, KEPCO KDN plans to expand the cloud business in the energy and electricity sectors.
Among those on hand at the signing ceremony were Shin Jae-moon, head of the Future Business Division at KEPCO KDN, and Kim Tae-chang, executive vice president of Naver Cloud. KEPCO KDN and Naver Cloud promised to implement joint projects under the deal.
Both sides are expected to evolve cloud computing services in the energy and power sectors by jointly implementing cloud computing services in public service areas, such as energy, environment and security, based on experiences and technologies related to the implementation of energy ICT technologies and global cloud projects.
Shin of KEPCO KDN said, ¡°The agreement will advance the realization of a digital platform government through collaboration among the public, private and government sectors.¡±
KEPCO KDN will lead a digital transition in the energy industry and fulfill a public entity¡¯s social responsibilities of contributing to people¡¯s convenient lives and the development of the national industry by providing platform services based on innovative cloud technology in the public areas, he added.
KEPCO KDN President Kim Stresses Expertise to Achieve New Vision

To this end, the company has set its core strategy: digital platform using cloud, intelligent power grid and cyber security.
KEPCO KDN has strategies to take preemptive steps to cope with convergence trends in the energy industry.
At a ceremony to kick off the 2023 business year on Jan. 2, President Kim Jang-hyun announced core business strategies the company will implement this year.
KEPCO KDN aims to restructure the grassroots business ICT O&M into a value-added business through technology advancement and efficiency and realize ESG management.
In his New Year¡¯s message, President Kim said, ¡°The business environment is getting harder this year than last year due to raw material price hikes.¡±
He called for his executives and staffers to set innovative goals, saying that KEPCO KPN will have to lay a foundation to make a leap forward by implementing change and innovation with a spirit of ¡°jeonseungbulbok unghyeongmugung,¡± a Chinese saying meaning coping with changes nimbly to win a victory in a war.
Meanwhile, KEPCO KPN posted 700 billion won in sales. The company also won a top grade in shared growth evaluation and become one of companies with quality competitiveness for 12 years in row.
KEPCO KDN Vows to Ram Up Responsibility on In-House Surveillance
KEPCO KDN held a joint ceremony to declare the strengthening of in-house surveillance at KEPCO KDN headquarters in Naju on Feb. 26.
The joint statement targets mutual cooperation to strengthen support for in-house surveillance and auditing activities by building an efficient in-house surveillance regime.
It calls for KEPCO KDN president and executive auditor to confirm their responsibilities and roles toward an in-house surveillance regime and pledge to make joint efforts to realize a corporate culture integrity and safety through efficient operation of an in-house surveillance system.
President Kim said KEPCO KDN will not spare full support to carry out duties, such as an institutional overhaul designed to build high levels of in-house surveillance foundations, stressing the importance of ESG management through voluntary in-house surveillance.
