S-OIL President Ryu Yeol of Corporate Strategy & Service attended CES 2023, held at Las Vegas, the United States, from Jan. 5 to Jan. 8.
S-OIL, the nation¡¯s representative energy and petrochemical company, participated in CES 2023, and set up a booth to introduce efforts to transition to a future clean energy supplier and direct investment companies to secure a driving force for sustainable growth and new business opportunities.
President Ryu toured booths of S-OIL¡¯s direct investment companies: the flexible battery company Libest, the eco-friendly construction material firm Beomjun E&C and encouraged their executives and staffers.
Ryu promised to offer full support to the companies¡¯ growth.
President Ryu also visited the pavilions of Korean major companies and global leaders, and looked into exhibits on display.
He said as he made first-hand, on-site observations of new future technologies, and was a good opportunity for S-OIL to ponder how to establish strategies as a clean energy supplier and a supplier of new products.
Ryu added that it would be conducive to securing insights to push digital transformation, transitioning to automobile electrification and electricity-centric energy, and taking stock of how to create and operate new business models.
S-OIL Executives and Staffers Vow to Successfully Implement ¡®Shaheen Project¡¯
About 100 S-OIL Executives and Staffers, including Hussain A Al-Qahtani, participated in a trekking exercise at Gwacheon on Jan. 27 and vowed to achieve the company¡¯s business goals.
CEO Al-Qahtani said, ¡°Amid hard management conditions and uncertainties in 2022, S-OIL achieved the best financial outcomes on the back of excellent competitiveness, backed by executives and staffer¡¯s dedicated efforts.
Together, he said they laid a foundation to achieve greater growth by obtaining the go-ahead to implement the Shaheen Project.
¡°As he Shaheen Project, to be a new growth engine, is to be launched in 2023, we have to concentrate our companywide capabilities to successfully carry out the project,¡± he added.
S-OIL plans to prioritize carrying out major goals, such as achieving the ¡°Vision 2030,¡± calling for being an eco-friendly energy and chemical company armed with top-tier competitiveness and creativity, successfully implementing the Shaheen Project and establishing a safety priority culture.
S-OIL Leads Drive to Preserve Janghang Wetland of Ramsar Convention
S-OIL delivered 150 million won to Goyang City and the Han River Basin Environment Office to preserve Janghang Wetland and restore the otter habitat on Feb. 2.
The Janghang Wetland site is a marsh district in Shinpyeong-dong, Janghang-dong and Beopgok-dong, Goyang City, located at an estuary of the Han River, where about 30,000 migratory birds inhabit every year.
Janghang Wetland was registered as Korea¡¯s 24th wetland at the Ramsar Convention in May 2021.
