‘Samsung Electronics Aims to Push the Envelope Once Again’

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee and President Kyung Kye-hyun called for the company to push the envelope once again, reflecting the past’s lesson that whenever there was a crisis, a further leap upward was made.

In their joint New Year’s message, Vice Chairman Han and President Kyung said, “Our standing and competitiveness will make a difference, depending on how to cope with the current crisis.”

The two demanded reinvesting in management fundamentals and corporate culture and challenging and investing for the future in a more aggressive fashion. They called for the company to make a leap forward through ambition and transformation.

Vice Chairman Han and President Kyung urged their executives and staff to explore technologies that can change the world whenever a difficult time ensues, raise the power of quality, never yielding, absolute value and evolve themselves to securing technology competitiveness by winning the hearts of customers and offering differentiated experiences.

The two stressed the practice of ESG management, saying that the year 2023 is the first year of implementing new eco-friendly management strategies, and eco-friendly products will be nurtured as Samsung Electronics’ future competitiveness.

“You, executives and staff members, are driving forces to make all changes to write a new story, and we’ll do our utmost to make an entity open based on diversity, fairness and tolerance,” they said.

They urged all operations in Korea and abroad to follow law-abiding guidelines and make efforts to create a law-abiding environment. Samsung Electronics held the New Year’s event at Samsung Digital City in Suwon, Gangwon-do, on Jan. 2.

Among about 150 people on hand at the event were Vice Chairman Han and President Kyung, President Lee Jung-bae, head of the Memory Business, President Choi Shi-young, head of the Foundry Business, and President Roh Tae-moon, chief of the Mobile Experience Business. Chairman Lee Jay-yong was not present.

In particular, the event took on significance since it invited winners of “Samsung Maestros,” in-house top technology experts and “annual awards” presented for outstanding performance of one year and their families.
