Woori Bank Picks Up Minister of Environment Prize at 2022 Carbon Neutral Contest
Will extend the operation of WON RE:CORD, a Woori Bank-Musinsa innovative store, in Hongik University Station

Woori Bank announced on Dec. 14 that it won the Minister of Environment Prize at the 2022 Carbon Neutral Contest hosted by the Ministry of Environment and organized by the Korea Environment and Climate Network to spread a carbon-neutral practice culture.

Celebrating its 13th year this year, 127 companies, institutions, local governments, and schools across the country ran a tight race with excellent cases in areas such as greenhouse gas reduction to respond to climate change, climate crisis adaptation, and climate change education and publicity. 

A total of 20 institutions that passed the preliminaries were given the final rankings through presentation screening at the 2022 Carbon Neutral Contest held at the Seoul Women¡¯s Plaza in Dongjak-gu, Seoul on Dec. 13. 




Woori Bank has been carrying out greenhouse gas reduction and anti-climate change activities through various lifestyle-oriented projects to spread a carbon-neutral culture. 

These activities include the ¡°Re_Born¡± project, a mask resources circulation campaign for employees and customers this year, as well as an employee walk donation campaign. 

In recognition of its contribution to crisis response, Woori Bank took home the Minister of Environment Prize in the business and institutional sector.

¡°With this award, Woori Bank¡¯s efforts to spread a carbon-neutral practice culture through small practices in daily life have come to fruition,¡± said Lee Won-duk, president of the bank. 

¡°We will fulfill our responsibilities as a representative financial institution in Korea through active ESG management to become a carbon-neutral financial institution by 2050.¡± 

Meanwhile, Woori Financial Group signed a business agreement with the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization in June to respond to climate crisis. 

In 2021, Woori Bank was also selected as an excellent company in greenhouse gas and energy target management and picked up the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Prize. 

It was selected as an excellent company in reaching a greenhouse gas emission reduction target by the Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Environment. 


Woori ONE Revolving Compound Foreign Currency Deposit

As interest in foreign currency deposits has recently increased, Woori Bank lowered the initial subscription amount of the ¡°Woori ONE Revolving Compound Foreign Currency Deposit¡± to US$1. 

¡°Woori ONE Revolving Compound Foreign Currency Deposit¡± enables customers to enjoy foreign currency gains as well as deposit interest. 

The initial subscription amount for ¡°Woori ONE Revolving Compound Foreign Currency Deposit¡± was minimized from US$1,000 to US$1. There is no limit on those who can subscribe to this product. Additional deposits are possible without limits on amounts or the number of times.

The subscription period is from 12 months or more, but the interest rate rotation cycle can be set in units of 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, or 6 months. In addition, upon termination after a long-term deposit, you can receive additional interest for each deposit amount.

¡°Woori ONE Revolving Compound Foreign Currency Deposit¡± allows you to conveniently make new and additional deposits at any time in a non-face-to-face manner through smart banking and internet banking as well as visiting branches. 


Extended Operation of WON RE:CORD Store

Woori Bank announced on Dec. 18 that it will extend the operation of WON RE:CORD, a Woori Bank-Musinsa innovative store, at Musinsa Terrace Hongdae in Hongik University Station for three months. 

WON RE:CORD is the first brand experiences-oriented pop-up store in the banking industry. It is also a space where visitors can experience the Woori Bank and WON Banking brands through various experiences such as listening to LPs, taking ATM photos and SNS goods events.

WON RE:CORD was originally scheduled to run until Dec. 18, 2022, but is extended to March 19, 2023 thanks to customers¡¯ good responses. More than 15,000 cumulative customers visited the store for three months. 

In line with this extended operation, WON RE:CORD is furnished with blue trees and blue snowballs. 

The color blue is Woori Bank¡¯s symbolic color and added famous carol LPs of Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé among others so that visitors will be able to enjoy their special Christmas moments.
