Shinhan Bank Takes Home Presidential Prize at Corporate Innovation Awards
Donates money to help single mothers receive practical training and education so they will be able to raise their children through economic independence

Shinhan Bank announced on Dec. 9 that it received the Presidential Prize, the highest honor, at the 29th Corporate Innovation Awards held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul on Dec. 8.

The Corporate Innovation Awards is a prize jointly awarded by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. 

It is the largest award ceremony in Korea which gives prizes to companies that actively practice management innovation and environmental social and governance (ESG) management and promote corporate innovation activities.

Shinhan Bank became the first Korean commercial bank to join the Equator Principles in 2020. 

The judges highly praised the bank for actively practicing ESG management, such as the first carbon neutrality declaration in East Asia. 

In addition, Shinhan Bank innovated online and offline channels such as New SOL, Hey Young Campus and Digilog Branch and promoted digital innovation that expands the realm of finance by launching Daengyeoyo, the first win-win delivery platform in the financial sector.

In particular, the food delivery app Daengyeoyo surpassed 1.5 million members and 50,000 affiliated stores within 11 months of its launch based on low commissions. 

It contributed to revving up local economies through collaboration with local governments such as Gwangjin-gu of Seoul. It was highly praised by the judges.

¡°We are delighted to receive the Presidential Prize in recognition of management innovation and ESG management practices through a virtuous cycle of win-win growth,¡± a Shinhan Bank official said. ¡°Shinhan Bank will try to communicate and grow together with society.¡±


Companion Project for Single Mothers

On Dec. 1, Shinhan Bank held a donation delivery ceremony for the Female Single Parent Employment Support Project at the headquarters of the Dongbang Social Welfare Society located in Changcheon-dong, Seodaemun-gu of Seoul.

Shinhan Bank conducted this sponsorship as part of its representative social contribution project, the Companion Project. 

The bank donated the money this time and will continue to donate 100 million each year for the next three years to help 50 female single parents receive practical training and education and become mothers who can stably raise their children through economic independence. 

The Dongbang Social Welfare Society selects recipients of the program in consideration of income levels and self-reliance. 

It offers job training courses such as job skill classes and classes for certificates and licenses, intern practice courses for a professional improvement, an economic mentoring program for the analysis and improvement of the financial environment of beneficiary families, according to the beneficiary¡¯s self-reliance plan,

The Companion Project is Shinhan Bank¡¯s social contribution project that provides long-term support for basic livelihood support and practical self-reliance of the socially marginalized. 

Since 2021, we have been supporting various vulnerable groups alienated from the social safety net such as abused children, undernourished children, children from poor multicultural families, senior citizens living alone, single-person households in Seoul, children at child welfare facilities, children bereaved by parents who committed suicide and the legally vulnerable. 


Shinhan Bank¡¯s ¡®Smart Overseas Travel Part 2¡¯

Shinhan Bank announced on Nov. 25 that it hosted ¡°Smart Overseas Travel Part 2,¡± the second part of the SOL Live Program under the theme of currency exchange in line with the increasing demand for overseas travel.

SOL Live is an online live commerce service that can be watched on Shinhan SOL. The channel offers ¡°Quiz Show, Challenge Golden SOL¡± and ¡°Financial Common Sense Talk Show for Adults¡± as regular programs. 

Smart Overseas Travel Part 2 was broadcast live at 6:30 p.m. on the same day. 

In this broadcast, a foreign exchange expert working at Shinhan Bank explained how to exchange money smartly, conveniently, and at a desired rate when traveling abroad, how to exchange money in advance and receive it at the airport through the Shinhan Bank SOL Service and various benefits related to currency exchanges, such as December currency exchange events.

In addition, Mode Tour travel experts recommended overseas travel destinations and packages in winter. 

For customers who participated in the real-time live broadcast, various prizes such as Mode Tour gift certificates and coffee coupons were provided through a lottery.
