NongHyup Bank announced on Nov. 14 that it held a ceremony to honor the opening of its branch in Sydney, Australia.
About 140 people attended the opening ceremony, including Tony Abbott, former Prime Minister of Australia, Hong Sang-woo, consul general of the Republic of Korea in Sydney.
NongHyup Bank is planning to strengthen corporate finance services by advancing into Australia and strengthen global investment banking (IB) capabilities centering on infrastructure investment.
¡°Australia boasts a financial environment that guarantees stable economic growth and autonomy that meets international standards,¡± said NongHyup Bank CEO Kwon Joon-hak.
Following the opening of the Hong Kong branch in April and the Beijing branch in July, NongHyup Bank has opened a total of 11 overseas branches in eight countries with the opening of the Sydney Branch in Australia.
Big Data Analysis Contest
NongHyup Bank announced on Nov. 15 that it held the fourth Bigdata Contest, a big data analysis contest for its employees, at the headquarters of NongHyup Bank in Jung-gu, Seoul on Nov. 14.
The Bigdata Contest was divided into three leagues - the Idea League (idea proposals based on data utilization), the Insight League (data analysis and insight derivation) and the Challenge League (data utilization quiz) for a total of two months from September to November.
About 200 executives and employees participated and demonstrated their data analysis capabilities. On the day, competitive presentations were made about eight cases that advanced to the finals in the Insight League.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Manager Kim Gyu-ri of the Data Division and the Excellence Prizes to Manager Koh So-young of the Marketing Support Department and Deputy Manager Lee Yong-won of the Card Planning Department.
¡°We held a contest to spread a big data analysis culture,¡± said Lee Sang-rae, vice president of NongHyup Bank¡¯s Data Division who attended the awards ceremony.
¡°We will develop high-quality data analysis human resources and raise our employees¡¯ awareness of the importance of data utilization in our business.¡±
Meanwhile, NongHyup Bank is working hard to enhance its employees¡¯ data analysis capabilities by running the Seoul National University Big Data Course, an industry-university cooperation course, and a master¡¯s degree course in the data domain to foster data analysis experts.
All One Friends Contest Award Ceremony
NH NongHyup Bank announced on Nov. 10 that it held the 3rd All One Friends Contest Award Ceremony at its headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul on Nov. 9.
The contest was held in two categories - creative emoticons and bankbook cover pictures - under the theme of finance.
Out of 1,757 works, 32 entered the final round and won the Grand Prize (one work per category), the Grand Prize (two works per category), the Excellence Prize (three per category), and the Encouragement Prize (10 per category). Two hundred works received the Effort Prize.
The winner of the Grand Prize in the emoticon category was Kim Da-un who submitted ¡°Oli¡¯s and Woni¡¯s Money Life.¡±
The work has a witty tone and cute gestures reminiscent of NongHyup Bank such as ¡°Exciting NongHyup,¡± ¡°NongHyup Financial Way¡± and ¡°Congratulating NongHyup.¡±
Kim took home prize money of five million won for producing highly usable emoticons that can be frequently used.
The Grand Prize in the bankbook cover illustration category went to Jang Ha-yul in Baekseok Elementary School in Cheonan who submitted ¡°Happy Saving Life with All-One Friends.¡±
¡°I deeply appreciate the sincerity and efforts of all those who participated in the contest,¡± said Lim Dong-soon, Senior Vice President of NongHyup Bank.
¡°I hope that this event will give you an opportunity to discover your talent and encourage you to excellent artists.¡±
The prize-winning emoticons will be released as NongHyup Bank¡¯s KakaoTalk emoticons next year.
In addition, the 32 works that won prizes in the final round in this contest will be exhibited through the digital signage of NongHyup Bank branches from Nov. 14 to the end of March of next year.
