KB Kookmin Bank held a ceremony in honor of its 21st anniversary at New KB Kookmin Building in Yeouido, Seoul on Nov. 7.
KB Kookmin Bank President Lee Jae-keun announced the bank’s management direction in his commemorative address.
“First of all, it is important to secure KB’s unique competitiveness which can enable KB to respond to uncertainties for its sustainable growth,” President Lee said.
To this end, KB Kookmin Bank should lay a solid foundation for growth in personal finance and corporate finance, while promoting close collaboration in core growth business areas such as CIB, the capital market, WM and the global business, Lee emphasized.
President Lee called on employees to pump up efforts to strengthen the bank’s competitiveness in making customer contacts through an organic and seamless combination between face-to-face and non-face-to-face channels.
President Lee added that organizations which can survive in the current era of “Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA)” are organizations that collaborate and innovate all the time.
He considered the speed of communication and the ability to execute the key to the way KB Kookmin Bank employees work.
“Let’s thoroughly prepare and push forward so that we will be able to transform KB Kookmin Bank into a smarter and more horizontal organization through a major shift in the way we work,” Lee emphasized.
Lastly, President Lee said that KB Kookmin Bank should fulfill its social responsibilities. Lee said he felt that a growing number of people need KB Kookmin Bank to build a healthy society.
“With the mindset that Kookmin Bank cannot exist without customers, let’s work together to become a bank that opens umbrellas for customers when it rains and shares dreams and hopes with them,” President Lee said.
Metaverse Technology Cooperation with Microsoft Korea
KB Kookmin Bank announced on Nov. 17 that it signed a business agreement on metaverse technology cooperation with Microsoft Korea on Nov. 16.
Through this agreement, Kookmin Bank will cooperate in the implementation of joint tasks in the field of augmented reality (AR), the development of financial contents using augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) and technical cooperation for convergence services of finance and metaverse among others.
On top of that, KB Kookmin Bank plans to develop financial content using HoloLens together with Microsoft to introduce an employee education and training program to protect financial consumers.
Microsoft HoloLens is an augmented reality (AR)/mixed reality (MR) headset developed and manufactured by Microsoft.
HoloLens runs the Windows Mixed Reality platform under the Windows 10 operating system.
KB Kookmin Bank is planning to prevent incomplete sales by establishing an education and training program that allows branch employees to check compliance with the Financial Consumer Protection Act while selling financial products to virtual customers.
Meanwhile, Kookmin Bank has been conducting various financial experiments in the metaverse, such as creating virtual branches in metaverse platforms to hold events linked to Liiv Next or introducing VR branches using virtual reality devices.
Korean Independence Movement Hero Campaign
KB Kookmin Bank announced on Nov. 17 that it has released a video of Jeong Se-gwon, nicknamed “the King of Architecture,” who preserved the nation’s national culture through the construction of the Bukchon Hanok Village, on the occasion of the National Patriotic Martyrs Day.
This video is the fourth story of Season 2, the hidden story of independent heroes promoted by KB Kookmin Bank as part of the Korean Patriots Campaign.
This video describes the achievements of Jeong Se-kwon, who protected the Korean culture by building urban traditional Korean house complexes for common people in Bukchon and Ikseon-dong in Seoul against the Japanese capital.
It tells a story about his noble spirit as he did not hesitate to sacrifice for the independence movement.
Meanwhile, KB Kookmin Bank released an episode in March about Song Mong-gyu as the first story of Season 2.
It is part of the Lesson Known Stories, which is about with Korea’s independence heroes.
Its May video is about patriot Cho Myung-ha, who attacked a Japanese general with a dagger.
The October video zeroes in on Joo Si-kyung, a distinguished scholar who did everything in his power to protect the Korean language and the Korean alphabet, called Hangul.
