Samsung SDS announced on Oct. 27 that it recorded revenue of 4.1981 trillion won and operating profit of 185 billion won in the third-quarter of 2022.
Compared to the same quarter last year, the revenue increased by 24.2% while operating profit decreased by 16.7%.
In the IT Services, the cloud business, in which the company is currently focusing on, stood out with rapid growth by following major businesses: applying Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP, Samsung SDS¡¯s cloud service) to the financial sector; expanding high-performance computing (HPC) services; extending target industries of the managed service provider (MSP) business; app modernization; and cloud based Software-as-a-Service business such as supply chain management (SCM) consulting for the manufacturers.
Moreover, the external business of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and the overseas business of manufacturing execution system (MES) continuously expanded. As a result, IT Services revenue recorded 1.4871 trillion won, which marks 7.8% YoY growth.
The logistics business recorded 2.7110 trillion won in revenue, which is 35.4% YoY growth.
The revenue increased thanks to extended domestic and overseas customers of Cello Square; increased inland transportation in the global market and expanded logistics center operations; and new business growth in facility relocation and the pharmaceutical/bio logistics sector.
Samsung SDS is pursuing a differentiated strategy in IT services to provide advanced cloud services in the multi-cloud environment by combining its cloud service provider (CSP) service, the SCP, with the global cloud vendor¡¯s CSP services. Moreover, the company will invest in cloud services including the SaaS solutions to further expand its cloud business to actively support the digital transformation of the customers.
In the logistics business, Samsung SDS will broaden the coverage of its digital logistics platform, Cello Square, to Vietnam and Singapore this month following its recent launch in China.
The company will also further expand its digital forwarding business while improving the logistics visibility with AI and data analysis technologies.

Samsung SDS to Support Data Analysis Talent Training with Smarter Brightics Studio
Samsung SDS is supporting the training of data analysis talents in the educational institutions with its smarter ¡°Brightics Studio,¡± a fast and convenient data analysis platform with improved features.
Brightics Studio, which is an open-source version of Samsung SDS¡¯s AI platform, Brightics AI, has been opened to the public in 2018 so that anyone can easily analyze and experience data with no charge.
Samsung SDS announced that it has significantly upgraded the data analysis features by adding key 220 functions pre-built by the data analysis experts, providing an option to view frequently used functions, and supporting both Korean and English languages simultaneously.
Brightics Studio, a no-code platform that can be used without coding, is well-received by the educational institutions thanks to its excellent usability with convenient drag-and-drop method and visualized analysis tools.
Brightics Studio was registered as an exercise tool for the subject of ¡°Basics of artificial intelligence¡± in 2021, and is being used in data analysis classes at high schools and technical schools.
The universities including KAIST, Korea University and Sungkyunkwan University are also conducting AI and data analysis lectures using the Brightics Studio.
Samsung has also adopted the Brightics Studio in its representative CSR activity called ¡°Junior SW Academy,¡± in which middle to high school teachers and students practiced data analysis and completed the training courses.
Moreover, Brightics Studio has been selected as the official data analysis platform in the AI contest held by the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) in July.
