NongHyup Bank announced on Oct. 17 that it signed a business agreement with the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education to create ¡°classroom forests¡± for the implementation of student-centered future education.

The signing ceremony was attended by about 10 officials from NongHyup Bank and the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education.

The two institutions agreed to actively cooperate with each other in implementing a carbon-neutral school and expanding ESG value realization education by creating a ¡°forest¡± for classrooms.

Classroom Forest is a practical environmental education activity where endangered air purifying plants and eco-friendly flowerpots selected by NASA are placed in learning spaces, and students directly experience planting and replanting.

This program is expected not only to raise young students¡¯ environmental awareness but to increase the effects of improving emotional stability and educational environments with the help of companion plants.

¡°Through this business agreement, we hope that youths who will lead the future will pay attention to the preciousness of nature and the importance of environmental issues,¡± a NongHyup Bank official said.

¡°Through the Classroom Forest Program, students will learn about the value of coexistence and symbiosis in their lives and grow into adults who understand the value of ecosystems,¡± Superintendent of Education Seo Keo-seok said.

¡°I expect this program to keep students healthy by providing a nice classroom environment and to contribute to their emotional stability.¡±
