The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) and Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) have come forward to invigorate Korean SMEs and venture companies¡¯ online exporting in cooperation of Alibaba.com, the global B2B platform, KOSME said on Sept. 30.
KOSME and Alibaba.com struck an MOU on the strengthening of exporters and SMEs¡¯ global entry at Alibaba.com Korea on Sept. 29.
Among those on hand at the signing ceremony were Kim Moon-hwan, head of KOSME¡¯s Global Growth Headquarters, and Andrew Zheng, Alibaba.com Korea, investment director with Alibaba Group.
Alibaba.com is the world¡¯s largest global B2B online shopping mall, operated by Alibaba Group of China. More than 34 million buyers and over 200 million global items have been registered on the platform.
Alibaba.com has continued to grow as the platform saw foreign buyer visit rate surge 130 percent and successful transaction buyers jump more than 140 percent in the recent two years.
Under the deal, two institutions agreed to fully cooperate in the establishment and operation of Korea Pavilion, an exclusive booth of Korea¡¯s excellent SME products, at Alibaba.com, hosting online fairs, educating on the strengthening of e-commerce transaction capabilities, and offering publicity and marketing.
KOSME plans to provide support to all processes ranging from exploring excellent companies and products to registering them at Alibaba.com, exploring of foreign buyers and the successful transaction, such as follow-up management following inquiries.
Kim, chief of KOSME¡¯s Global Growth Headquarters, said, ¡°The size of the global e-commerce market is exploding fast in the acceleration of digital transformation, caused by the COVID pandemic.¡±
KOSME will offer full support so that Korean excellent SMEs and venture companies can enter foreign market using the online platform, based on the MOU signed with Alibaba.com, he added.
Turn to ¡®GobizKorea GETS¡¯ to Solve Online Export Problems
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) and Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) have revamped ¡°Go Biz Korea Social Network Service Channel¡± to ramp up communications with Koran and foreign customers, KOSME said on Oct. 5.
MSS and KOSME have operated the accounts of diverse public relations channels, such as GoBizKorea Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, separately divided into ones targeting Korean companies and foreign buyers.
The conventional SNS channels have limited only to publicizing corporate products and guiding support projects, but the revamped version will add content such as global e-commerce trends and working-level education on trade to strengthen the provision of information.
The SNS channel targeting Korean SMEs and venture companies has been revamped under the new name ¡°GobizKorea GETS.¡± GETS, short for Global E-commerce Total Solution means the provision of online export content or diverse types of solutions.
GobizKorea GETS channel offers online export solutions, including the distribution of web magazines and card news related to the latest e-commerce trends, hosting of the forum ¡°GET1Trend,¡± provision of e-commerce tips via the YouTube channel and content via GET2TV such as customs, and logistics expertise, as well as specific education, mentoring and provision of solutions to solve export complaints and grievances via GET3Tutorial.
The English channel for foreign buyers introduce excellent products of each promising item category, such as cosmetics and fashion items, top lists of inquiries favored by buyers, being divided according to each category-by-category.
Kim Moon-hwan, head of KOSME¡¯s Global Growth Headquarters, said, ¡°Days have come when the provision of information based on SNS channels is essential in the wake of acceleration of the development of digital technologies and transition to non-face-to-face channels, caused by the COVID pandemic.¡±
KOSME plans to provide support to make foreign buyers a good access to Korean promising companies¡¯ items and invigorate SMEs¡¯ online export by making the most of the GoBiz Korea SNS channel, he added.
