Korea Industrial Complex Corp. (KICOX) will participate in the upcoming K-Safety Expo 2022 to promote its new business of making industrial complexes in which people feel safe, KICOX said on Oct. 11.

K-Safety Expo 2022, to be held at EXCO in Daegu from a three-day run from Dec. 12 to Dec. 14, will be jointly hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Daegu Metropolitan Government and Gyeongsangbuk-do provincial government.

KICOX will open a pavilion at K-Safety Expo 2022 to showcase diverse verification projects to ensure integrated safety management of industrial complexes.

KICOX will demonstrate a safety zone verification project which prevents the leakage of harmful chemical substances and the occurrence of fires. It will do so by building a digital twin control system at an industrial complex.

A consortium, formed by KICOX along with Spire Technology and Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute, will verify that no leakage of harmful chemical substances occurred in the safety zone.

The consortium was selected as the winner of an R&D task by MOTIE.

At the exhibition, KICOX will release ¡°KICOX Safety Service Design Project¡± the corporation has been jointly implementing in cooperation with Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP).

KICOX President Kim Jung-hwan said, ¡°The safety environment of industrial complexes is expected to be improved by expanding infrastructure using digital technology and safety design.¡±

KICOX will do its utmost to make industrial complexes in which people work in a safe fashion by joining forces with the government, related organizations and companies, President Park said.

Govt. Issues Awards for Contributing to Development of Industrial Complexes

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy presented prizes to 66 people who contributed to the development of industrial complexes, at a ceremony to celebrate Industrial Complex Day at G-Tower Convention in Guro-gu, Seoul, on Sept. 22.

Industrial Complex Day took place in 2006 for the first time to celebrate industrial complex contributions to the growth of the national economy and boost the morale of tenant companies of industrial complexes.

The latest anniversary event was held under the theme ¡°Korea¡¯s Great Industrial Transition, Together with Industrial Complexes,¡± wishing for the transformation of industrial complexes into centers of Korea¡¯s economic future.

It is hoped they will spur private sector investments through serious regulatory reform and facilitate a great industry transition for future growth engines.

The coveted Order of Industrial Service, Iron Tower went to K.elim New Star President Kim Ki-won who has contributed to invigorating the regional economy with promoting shared growth and collaboration with industrial complex tenant companies by running the ODM clothes maker in cooperation with about 60 fashion brands for the past 23 years.

President Na Bong-ahn of Seo Gwang Industry, a special vehicle maker, and President Park Young-gyun of Yeasung, a hydrogen fuel battery vehicle parts maker, each have been presented with the presidential award.

Sixty-three others were awarded with other government prizes.

MOTIE 1st Vice Minister Jang Young-jin said, ¡°Industrial complexes have played the part of the core of economic development as they accounted for 63.2 percent of the production of nation¡¯s manufacturing industry, 65.6 percent of the nation¡¯s total exports and 47.4 percent of the nation¡¯s employment.¡±

MOTIE plans to continue the revamping of systems by prioritizing regulatory reform so that the private sector can pursue innovation and growth based on autonomy and creativity, he said.
