Jincheon Mayor Song Ki-seop, former administrator of the National Agency for Administrative City Construction (NAACC), got off to a good start in the 8th publicly elected local government by achieving the goal of attracting 1 trillion won in cumulative investments as of September, which is earlier than planned.
According to Jincheon, the county logged 1,090.1 billion won in cumulative investment amounts as of September, surpassing the 1 trillion won barrier in cumulative investment amounts for the seventh consecutive year since 2016.
Jincheon County struck deals worth combined 484.8 billion won with two companies, including EcoPro HN, topping the annual cumulative investment goal on Sept. 14.
The investment agreement calls for creating 262 new jobs in the region.
While launching the 8th publicly elected local government, Jincheon Country announced the so-called ¡°9. 9. 9. Era,¡± calling for achieving $90,000 in per head gross regional domestic product (GRDP), securing 900 billion won in county budget and achieving 1 trillion won in cumulative investment amounts for the ninth consecutive year.
Jincheon is predicted to reach the 9. 9. 9. Era earlier than planned by topping 1 trillion won in cumulative investment amounts for this year.
Jincheon posted 206.3 billion won in regional tax revenues in 2021, topping the 200 billion won mark in its history. Relocating of blue-chip companies in the country area has contributed to raising regional corporate tax revenues.
If companies which have struck investment deals launch full-fledged operation, Jincheon is predicted to see its county budget, which stood at about 700 billion won in 2021, surge.
Residents who settle down in the county in search for good jobs are on the rise. Jincheon has posted a higher population growth rate and the highest per head GRDP across the nation.
Jincheon logged 89.61 million won in the per head GRDP in the 2019, ranking first among the counties of Chungcheonbuk-do.
The figure represents more than twice the average of the Chungcheonbuk-do area. Jincheon¡¯s population is on the rise continuously since August 2014 on top of the higher per head GRDP.
In order to secure its future long-term regional industry competitiveness, Jincheon plans to shift manufacturing industry-oriented investment into ones designed to develop the integrated tourism industry and attract R&D investment companies and firms related to knowledge economy-based service industries.
The country plans to redouble efforts to improve settlement conditions such as expanding of dormitories, constructing business centers and improving the environment of public facilities.
Jincheon Mayor Song Ki-seop said, ¡°I¡¯m very pleased to see several years¡¯ efforts to attract investments serve as a strong prop to develop the regional economy.¡±
The county will continue efforts to conduct strategic investment attraction activities to ramp up the current development momentum despite outside and inside economic hardships, the mayor added.

Jincheon County health center¡¯s program to raise its regional birth rate has received a good reception.
The county¡¯s health center has lessened the spiritual, physical and economic burdens of regional pregnant mothers by offering financial support on the operational costs of couples who experience difficulties in pregnancy, and medical fees for pregnant women with high danger risks.
Jincheon has implemented a program to assist pregnant women and newly born children since 2019 in accordance with a revision of ordinances.
