One hundred and fourteen construction industry people receive orders and other government prizes in recognition for contributions to the development of industry

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and the Federation of Construction Associations (FCA) held a ceremony to celebrate the 2022 anniversary of Construction Day at the Construction Hall in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul, on Aug. 18.

Construction Day is an annual event, designed to help about 2 million people in the construction industry to pledge solidarity and determination, and promote the development of the industry. 

Construction Day, established in 1981, is observed annually. The 2022 anniversary of Construction Day was the 32nd occasion. 

The anniversary event was held under the theme ¡°Korea Making a Leap Thanks to the Joint Efforts by People in the Construction Industry.¡± 

Among those on hand at the event were Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, MOLIT Minister Won Hee-ryong, Rep. Lee Jong-bae, Rep. Min Hong-chul, Rep. Sung IL-jong, Rep. Kim Jung-jae, Rep. Choi In-ho, FCA Chairman Kim Sang-soo, other heads of organizations related to the construction industry and award winners.

Orders and other government prizes were presented to 114 construction industry people, who were recognized for contributing to the development of the construction industry.





Prime Minister Han Duck-soo gives a commemorative speech at the 2022 Construction Day anniversary event. 


The coveted Order of Industrial Service Merit, Gold Tower went to President Lee Sang-il of Jungdo. President Lee, who began his construction career in 1978. He has been with the construction industry for 43 years. 

During his career, he was involved in projects related to state SOC facilities such as Wonju-Gangneung railway depo. 

In particular, Jungdo won overseas orders worth a combined 167.4 billion won after establishing overseas operations in eight countries, such as Cambodia, Vietnam and Kazakhstan. 

In his commemorative speech, FCA Chairman Kim said, ¡°The construction industry has served as a force to make people¡¯s life more convenient and advance the Korean economy for the past 75 years, and the industry should be once more a driving force of the nation for its new future.¡± 

Chairman Kim urged people in the construction industry to join changes and innovation and the government to make the construction industry grow together through full support and cooperation. 

In his speech, Prime Minister Han said he gave words of encouragement to officials of the construction industry who have toiled and endured at Korean and overseas construction sites.
