KB Financial Group Vows to Better Protect Customers After Group Strategy Meeting
Elevates its position as a leading ESG financial group through global carbon neutrality activities

KB Financial Group held the ¡°Group Management Strategy Meeting for the Second Half of 2022¡± at Grand Walkerhill Seoul Hotel to discuss the group¡¯s strategic goals and corporate direction with 270 executives, including Chairman Yoon Jong-kyoo on July 1. 

Under the theme of ¡°Re:Unite & R.E.N.E.W.,¡± the meeting was held as the first face-to-face meeting since January 2020. 

It became a forum for conversations and communication among group executives and sought new changes at the group level amid concerns over inflation and an economic recession.

A town hall meeting held in the morning was held in the form of Chairman Yoon making comments on stories, which some executives wanted to share with the CEO. 

Chairman Yoon honestly answered various questions from executives, including KB Financial Group¡¯s future KB, business strategies, human resources management, corporate cultures and had time to discuss the group¡¯s future directions with executives.

¡°Protecting customers¡¯ financial assets and acting as a strong guardrail for them, even in the event of a crisis, is the core of financial companies¡¯ roles,¡± Yoon said in a special lecture. 

¡°Let¡¯s faithfully fulfill our social responsibilities as a leading financial group such as giving financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises so that they will be able to cope with climate change and offering ESG consulting to them.¡± 

In the afternoon, each business division had a discussion about \goals and game changers. 

The division sessions were held by five groups - the individual/WM/SME, digital/IT, capital market/CIB, global, and insurance. 

In the sessions, they focused on sharing strategic priorities in the second half of 2022 and discussing specific action plans to secure game changers in the market.

Finally, KB Financial Group held the KB Innovation Awards, which were newly established to encourage employees to develop customer-centered products and services development. 

The award program consists of the Innovation STAR Award and the Innovation Award. 

The KB Payment Usance Team at KB Kookmin Bank took home the Innovation STAR Award, while the Innovation Award went to employees at KB Insurance who developed ¡°Insurance to Protect Invaluable Children¡± and members of the New Service Development Team at KB Securities, respectively. 

¡°Let¡¯s go back to the basics and do everything we can do to enhance customer value in these difficult times,¡± Yoon said at the end of the management strategy meeting ¡°Let¡¯s serve customers better and take of them with stronger sincerity.¡± 

¡°As we held the management strategy meeting in a face-to-face manner for the first time in more than two years, we were able to have more active and practical discussions than in a non-face-to-face manner,¡± a KB Financial Group official said. 

Meanwhile, KB Financial Group is leading a transition to a low-carbon economy through the promotion of its carbon-neutral strategy ¡°Net Zero S.T.A.R.¡± and ESG investment strategy ¡°Green Wave 2030.¡± 

The company also raised its status as a leading financial group in global activities for carbon neutrality.

On June 8, Chairman Yoon was appointed as the only Asia-Pacific advisor to the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Carbon Neutrality (GFANZ) in Korea.

The GFANZ is a global group involving 450 financial companies from 45 countries. It was established in April 2021 to promote a net-zero and overcome the climate crisis economy through finance.

The GFANZ Asia-Pacific Advisory Committee will play a role in encouraging financial institutions to participate and share knowledge to realize carbon neutrality so that the Asia-Pacific region will be able to quickly switch to an eco-friendly economy.

In addition, Chairman Yoon Jong-kyu met Danish Climate Ambassador Tomas Anker Christensen and Danish Ambassador to Korea Einar H. Jensen on June 9 to discuss financial companies¡¯ roles in implementing carbon neutrality.

Danish Climate Ambassador Christensen has served as a climate change and maritime envoy of the United Nations and encourages various stakeholders around the world to participate in international efforts to tackle the global climate crisis.

At the meeting, Yoon explained KB Financial Group¡¯s various efforts to move to a low-carbon economy. 

Danish Climate Ambassador Christensen shared Denmark¡¯s achievements in using new and renewable energy and talked about ways to promote cooperation in the promote sector between the two countries.
