Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), marking the 60th anniversary, unveiled a vision of expanding exports by ushering in an era in which anyone can export by ramping up support to digital-based global business.
KOTRA held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary at KOTRA headquarters in Yeomgok-dong, Seoul, on June 20.
Among those on hand at the event were 1st Vice Minister Jang Young-jin of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), Chairman Kim Kyung-man of the Special Committee of National Assembly SMEs and Startups, President Lee In-ho of Korea Trade Insurance Corp. and Executive Vice Chairman Lee Kwan-sup of Korea International Trade Association (KITA).
KOTRA established the new vision, titled ¡°Korea¡¯s Global Business Platform Connecting World and Future.¡±
In his commemorative speech, KOTRA President Yu Jeoung-yeol stressed business opportunities and hope amid a new paradigm, such as a transition to a digital and low-carbon economy and the restructuring of the global supply chains despite uncertainties, such as global inflation and low-growth trends.

President Yu suggested three core tasks KOTRA will implement in preparation of the next 60 years.
¡°On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its establishment, KOTRA will make the Year 2022 the first year of ushering in an era in which any one can export,¡± he said.
Yu emphasized the transformation of KOTRA into a ¡°digital trade company¡± designed to overcome limitations of the conventional export marketing and expanding of Korea¡¯s export base.
KOTRA pledged to make a leap to an advanced kind trade investment institution, offering balanced support on trade and investment, such as diversifying replacements of core strategic items and strengthening efforts to attract strategic FDIs in core industries.
KOTRA plans to expand global economic cooperation corresponding to a new trade order, as a leading institution of performing advanced Korea¡¯s responsibilities in the global society.
The agency plans to ramp up international cooperation in greenhouse gas emissions for carbon neutrality by 2050 and development cooperation coupled with industry trade.
President Yu said, ¡°Korea has established itself as Korea¡¯s representative business platform to support trade and investments by changing itself endlessly to meet needs of the time for the past 60 years.¡±
KOTRA will grasp Korean companies¡¯ necessary needs and support them to preemptively cope with rapidly changing global trade environment, he added.
