Gyeonggi-do Gov. Kim Dong-yeon singed a master plan to stabilize the public¡¯s livelihood and cope with an emergency economy, shortly after he took office on July 1.
He also expressed his strong determination to restore people¡¯s livelihoods by ordering the establishment of a special committee designed to take steps to stabilize livelihoods, the first instruction he gave after he was inaugurated.
Gov. Kim presided over a first senior officials¡¯ meeting of the 8th-term publicly elected local government on July 4.
During the meeting, Gov. Kim said, ¡°I had signed a master plan to stabilize the public¡¯s livelihoods and cope with an emergency economy, on July 1, and in the context of this, I want the creation of a special committee designed to take steps to stabilize the public¡¯s livelihoods.¡±
Gov. Kim¡¯s first orders to Gyeonggi-do provincial officials were streamed live via an in-house broadcasting network. Gov. Kim, speaking on the way the provincial government is operated, called for the participants to focus on ¡°dish-breaking administration.¡±
Officials working hard, causing dishes to be broken or cracked, will be protected and encouraged and promoted, Gov. Kim said.
As for ¡°throwing-away administration,¡± Gov. Kim called for officials to ask themselves what they bring to the development of the provincial government and the promotion of the quality of provincial residents¡¯ lives. In ¡°throwing-away administration,¡± he means Gyeonggi should spearhead efforts to eliminate unnecessary procedures and practices.
Gov. Kim said, ¡°All issues belong to the field and all answers are there, and I¡¯m taking the initiative and setting an example of reducing reports and desk-bound administration.¡±
Kim said he learned a lot while talking with people on the campaign trail, and he stressed field administration, in which the provincial government can understand each resident¡¯s mind and be humble.
Among about 40 senior officials on hand at the meeting were first vice governor, second vice government, heads of offices, bureaus, and agencies, and operations and chairman of the self-governing police council.

Gyeonggi-do Gov. Kim Dong-yeon visited the Yongin semiconductor cluster as part of his economic field tour since his inauguration on July 5.
He stressed bipartisan cooperation for the economic development of the nation and economic collaboration for the success of the semiconductor cluster.
His field tour may be construed as his determination to nurture the Yongin semiconductor cluster into am advanced industry center to lead global supply chains beyond Gyeonggi-do.
Gov. Kim said, ¡°I think of being unified regardless ruling and opposition parties to make Gyeonggi-do a semiconductor mecca.¡±
In a related development, the provincial government has succeeded in attracting two foreign semiconductor-related companies to Gyeonggi-do, the large-ever investment size since 12 years shortly after Gov. Kim¡¯s inauguration.
Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions in United States, struck an MOU with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on July 6 to establish a domestic R&D center in Gyeonggi-do.
