Korea Life Insurance Association (KLIA) and General Insurance Association of Korea (GIAK) have designated 30,956 insurance planners as ¡°excellent¡± certification planners for the year 2022.
An excellent certification planner system has been implemented by the two associations since 2008 to promote the complete selling of insurance products and establish orderly insurance product solicitation.
The two associations received and examined applications during the period between April and May before designating 12,469 planners from the general insurance industry and 18,487 planners as excellent certification planners this year.
The certification period will last one year from June 1, 2022.
Excellent certification planners from the life insurance industry stand at 12,469, accounting for 13.7 percent of the industry¡¯s total number of 91,061. The certification rate represents a drop of 0.7 percentage points from 14.3 percent last year.
The average age of the newly designated excellent certification planner from the life insurance industry stands at 52.8 years, an increase of 0.8 years from the previous year.
Their annual average income amounted to 94.71 million won, a drop of 216 million won from the previous year.
The number of life insurance planners who have been certified on more than five occasions stood at 3,036.
Life insurance planners who have been certified for more than five occasions are entitled to the coveted planner certification status, dubbed ¡°Golden Fellow.¡±
The average age of the newly designated excellent certification planner from the general insurance industry stood at 54.3 years, an increase of 0.6 years. Their annual average income amounted to 116.08 million won, a surge of 11.52 million won from the previous year.
The number of life insurance planners who have been certified for more than five occasions stood at 7.953. General insurance planners who have been certified for more than five occasions are entitled to the coveted planner certification status, dubbed ¡°Blue Ribbon.¡±
The number of planners who have certified every year for 15 years, from 2008 when the certification was introduced, stood at 845 planners - 113 from the life insurance industry and 732 planners from the general insurance industry.
A KLIA official said the excellent certification planner system has established itself as a symbol of insurance planners trusted by customers after it was introduced in 2008.
KLIA and GIAK will continue efforts to boost the morale of certified insurance planners and ramp up publicities over the certification system toward customers, the official said.
