NongHyup Bank announced on June 19 that it had opened Magic Tennis Class and Happy Financial Class at an elementary school on Ulleung Island of North Gyeongsang Province on June 14.
Ulleung Island is 120 km east of the Peninsula in the East Sea.
Tennis players of the NongHyup Bank Sports Team donated their time as daily teachers, teaching basic postures and serving/rally to about 100 elementary school students and local residents on the island.
Magic Tennis is an educational program developed so that children can learn on a space smaller than a regular tennis court by using small and light rackets and soft and childish-looking colored rubber balls.
NongHyup Bank held Happy Financial Class under the theme of smart finance for elementary school students and promoted their participation in the banker experience education using a bus-type mobile branch while fueling children's interest in the program.
Happy Financial Class is a talent sharing volunteer activity that provides customized financial education and banking job experience opportunities to young people in areas which have no youth financial education centers by using bus-type mobile branches.
“If you love your dreams and enjoy learning and studying happily, you will be able to succeed in the future,” NongHyup Bank President Kwon Jun-hak told the students who participated in the talent donation.

Approval for Opening of Noida Branch in India
NongHyup Bank announced on May 30 that it obtained approval for the establishment of its Noida branch in India from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on May 24.
By obtaining the final approval for the establishment of the branch in India, NongHyup Bank has laid the foundation for making a foray into Southwest Asia.
The Korean lender will start its business activities on a full scale beginning from next year after preparing for branch establishment in 2022.
“India is an important base in Southwest Asia with great growth potential as it has a consumer market of about 1.3 billion people,” said Kwon Jun-hak, president of NongHyup Bank.
“We will strive to become a financial institution that fulfills its social responsibilities while coexisting with the local financial market by making good business preparations.”
MOU with Korea National Park Service
NongHyup Bank announced on June 8th that it signed a business agreement with the Korea National Park Service for mutual cooperation in environmental, social and governance (ESG) management.
With this agreement, NongHyup Bank and the Korea National Park Service will cooperate with each other in ESG management for carbon neutrality, financial support to create social value and the socially vulnerable by utilizing resources, information and networks owned by both institutions.
NongHyup Bank is encouraging volunteer activities for national park in order to preserve and maintain national park ecosystems and is preparing ESG-specialized financial products to revitalize visits to national parks.
In addition, it plans to sponsor weddings at national parks for the marginalized who cannot afford to hold weddings due to economic difficulties.
“NongHyup Bank is promoting various ESG projects with a sense of mission that NongHyup Bank should spearhead ESG moves,” President Kwon said. “I am confident that it will help expedite the realization of carbon neutrality in Korea.”
Apple Tree Event
NongHyup Bank announced on June 8 that it will hold an apple tree sale event in which farmers will grow for customers, who will be able to choose them directly through its official SNS channel until July 6.
NongHyup Bank planned this event to provide an opportunity for customers to make precious memories while traveling to farming areas by buying apple trees with family and friends in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic.
If participants write stories about their wishes to give apple trees as gifts on NongHyup Bank's Facebook or Instagram, the apple trees will be given to 300 people for one year in a lottery and 200 people will receive apple juice as gifts.
“I hope that this event will help customers have a greater understanding and interest in Korean agricultural and rural areas,” President Kwon said.
