Shinhan Bank will open a branch where customers can use banking services on Saturday. In addition, it will introduce the 9to8 Branch System through which branches will remain open until 8 pm on weekdays.
Shinhan Bank will launch the Evening Plus Service beginning on June 15 so customers can use financial services at their desired time and place. This will include business hours in the evening on weekdays and on Saturday.
“Thus far, banks have been open at their convenient time and places, paying attention to customers’ standpoints in this regard,” A Shinhan Bank official explained.
Shinhan Bank selected stores for the new services by taking into account the fact that office workers need bank branches near their workplaces in the evening on weekdays and near their homes on Saturdays.
Evening branches will be open on weekdays from 9 am to 8 pm in areas where office workers are concentrated.
Shinhan Bank selected some of their branches as evening branches after checking the distribution of the number of people who got off at subway stations during rush hours and branches frequently used by a large number of office workers.
Saturday branches will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in densely populated areas of company workers.
These stores will run by combining face-to-face and non-face-to-face services.
Evening zones will be installed inside general branches, where Shinhan Bank’s digital sales department staff conducts customer consultations in real time through digital desks for video consultations.
In the evening zones, customers will be able to use services with regard to loans, funds, trusts, and retirement pensions. Face-to-face windows and the evening zones will simultaneously serve customers from 9 am to 4 pm, normal business hours, on weekdays.
In the case of digital lounge branches, their business hours will be extended from 5 pm. to 8 pm.
While the number of bank branches is on a decline in Korea, the number of special-type bank branches is on the uptick. Shinhan Bank recently signed a strategic partnership with KT, a Korean telecommunication giant, to promote the AI-based video Home Branch business using Olleh TV’s voice recognition technology.
The Home Branch service provides AI-based video counseling service using GiGA Genie’s voice recognition technology on Shinhan Bank’s channel within the KT Olleh TV platform, allowing customers to provide real-time financial counseling and easy business processing with bank employees through TVs.
Shinhan Bank also opened the first innovative branch at Gwangjin Hwayang Store of “GS The Fresh Supermarket” for the first time in the Korean financial industry.
Shinhan Bank announced on June 17 that it signed a business agreement with Chong Kun Dang Healthcare Corp. to promote joint businesses by way of the convergence of finance and healthcare services.
The business agreement was signed in a ceremony at the Chong Kun Dang Healthcare Building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul with the participation of Jeon Pil-hwan, head of Shinhan Bank’s Digital Strategy Group and Kim Ho-gon, CEO of Chong Kun Dang Healthcare.
The highlights of the agreement are the promotion of metaverse-based financial and healthcare service convergence and operation business, the joint discovery and promotion of new digital innovation business items in finance and healthcare and cooperation in online and offline marketing.
In particular, the metaverse-based convergence service will provide useful information on health starting from its beta service beginning on June 21 by setting up a healthcare zone within the Shinhan Metaverse.
“We expect that Shinhan Bank will be able to expand the ecosystem of its metaverse platform through this agreement,” A Shinhan Bank official said.
“As people’s interest in healthcare and beauty care is continuously increasing these days, we will develop and present a new cooperative model between financial and non-financial sectors by making good use of Chong Kun Dang Healthcare’s products, contents, and information in various fields.”
