Doosan Enerbility, the successor of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, has made a fresh start after changing its name for the first time in 21 years. The company plans to focus on four eco-friendly businesses to become an eco-friendly company.

True to the new name, Enerbility, a combination of energy and sustainability, the company plans to concentrate on human beings¡¯ enriched lives and the sustainability of the Earth.

Doosan Enerbility revealed a master plan to solidify its standing as an eco-friendly energy company by focusing on nurturing four businesses - gas turbine & hydrogen, offshore wind power and small modular reactor (SMR).

A plan to win orders on growth businesses and strategies to implement it, recently announced by Doosan Enerbility, indicates that the company targets the restructuring of its business performance portfolio during the mid- and long-term period between 2023 and 2026.

The company aims to post 3.2 trillion won in growth businesses and 3.9 trillion won in conventional business this year. Mid- and long-term business order plans call for earning 5.3 trillion won in growth businesses and 2.4 trillion won in conventional businesses annually.

A new business order plan calls for logging 1.08 trillion won in the gas turbine sector, 600 billion won in the hydrogen segment, 2.1 trillion won in the renewable energy sector and 800 billion won in the next-generation nuclear power business.

As for the gas turbine business, one of the company¡¯s mainstay businesses, Doosan Enerbility launched a project to develop a gas turbine technology in a joint collaboration between the government and the private sector in 2013.

Doosan Enerbility became the world¡¯s fifth company to develop a gas turbine technology in 2019. The company plans to expand its share in the gas turbine market by cashing in on high-performance gas turbine models it has developed.

The company has a strategy of pursuing hydrogen turbine-ready to achieve carbon neutrality.

In the offshore wind power business, Doosan Enerbility has already become the first Korean company to develop the WinDS3000, an offshore and ground wind power generation system.

The company, which developed WinDS3300 and WinDS3300 in succession, is now working on the development of DS205-8MW, a large-capacity offshore wind power model.

In the hydrogen business, Doosan Enerbility is participating in a task to verify green hydrogen connected with Donghae Photovoltaic Power Project and green hydrogen linked with Jeju Wind Power Project.

Green hydrogen, a hydrogen produced by electrolysis from renewable sources, discharge no greenhouse gas emissions.

The company plans to preemptively secure the technology to produce green hydrogen.

The company is also seeking to stabilize the supply of green hydrogen through imports from foreign countries, by utilizing its green hydrogen production technology and capabilities to supply power systems and components.

Doosan Enerbility plans to produce 5 tons of liquefied hydrogen via the nation¡¯s first hydrogen liquification plant, to be dedicated this year.

The company plans to put into commercial operation the plant starting 2023 and supply liquefied hydrogen to a hydrogen bus charging station.

Doosan Enerbility is implementing the nuclear power business on a gradual basis. The company completed equity investments into NuScale Power with Korean investors - $44 million in 2019 and $60 million in 2021.

Doosan Enerbility has forged a strategic partnership with NuScale to deliver the U.S.¡¯s first SMR plant.

The company plans to supply major systems and components of the SMR plant worth at least $3.1 billion to the United States and other global markets.

A Doosan Enerbility official said the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) completed the screening of a SMR design certification in August 2020, and Doosan Enerbility¡¯s model became the sole one out of the SMR models to obtain design certification from NRC.

The company is expected to win an SMR project, one of its kinds, to be implemented in Idaho, the United Sates by Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems.

Doosan Enerbility launched a project to develop SMART reactors in 1997. The company completed a pre-project engineering process in cooperation with Saudi Arabia between 2015 and 2018.

The company is seeking to obtain a standard design approval, and after the standard design approval is given, a project to build a first SMART reactor plant is predicted to be actualized.

Doosan Enerbility is also trying to expand investments into 3D printing, digital, and waste-to-resources projects.
