The Seoul Motor Show 2013, which will run from March 29-April 7, is expected to attract 335 car and car parts makers from 13 countries and unveil 42 new car models and 15 concept cars produced with the most high-tech auto technologies now available in the world.

The motor show will be the largest in scale with KINTEX, the venue of the event, ready to open its second exhibition hall, which will double the size of exhibition space to as large as 15 football fields. The organizers of the auto event don’t expect any problems from not having enough space this time as was previously experienced.

The organizers led by Hur Wan, the secretary-general of the Seoul Motor Show Organizing Committee, said as environmental friendliness has been the dominating theme in all the industrial sectors in the world, the global auto industry has been moving in that direction and the motor show in Seoul has been designed to focus on that theme with 35 new car models that will include environmental friendly and fuel efficient aspects, such as hybrid engines, clean-diesel engines, and electric engines, all in the category of green cars. Thus, the motor show has been designed to show the development of auto technologies ultimately targeted to humans and nature.

A variety of side events will help make the motor show more plush and meaningful to the viewers, which will make motor shows abroad, some of which have been around for more than a century, envious of the Seoul event.

A major attraction of the show will be the opportunity for the viewers to test-ride some of the new green car models on display to experience for the first time how pleasant it is to ride in a green car.

Another event will be the award presentation to the winners of the University Student Car Design Contest and a chance to take a look at their award-winning car designs, which will be on display at the motor show.

The occasion will be for the viewers to learn what the future of car design will be like in Korea by looking at the award-winning designs and at the same time encouraging the young car designers who will design the cars of the future.

In the meantime, what should draw the attention of the viewers will be the Korea Automobile Photo Exhibition to show the artistic view of cars. Every day during the show viewers will have the chance to win a car in a raffle.

The Seoul Motor Show is now at the point where it will rank among the famous auto shows in the world such as the motor shows in Frankfurt, Germany, Detroit, Michigan, and Shanghai, China. The Seoul event is already up there with the others in terms of scale and the number of viewers, except that its history is not that long.

In order to catch up with the major global motor shows, more international seminars and forums on autos and technology will be held in Korea and attract more new car models and concept cars to give the Seoul Motor Show more to offer to attract the global attention and rank among the outstanding motor shows in the world.
