Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) participated in the 9th World Water Forum that took place in Senegal from March 21 to March 26.
The World Water Forum, hosted by the World Water Council, is held every three years. It is the world¡¯s biggest water-related international event.
Governments, international organizations, NGOs and companies from about 200 countries around the world assemble to have discussions about water issues. The 9th World Water Forum was held under the theme ¡°Water Security for Peace and Development.¡±
The forum focused on four priorities, namely: water security and sanitation; water for rural development cooperation, and means and tools including the crucial issues of financing, governance, knowledge management and innovation; four axes that constitute priorities for Africa, but also for the world as a whole.
High-level decision-makers, including ministers and lawmakers, delivered political messages for water security, and on top of diverse participants, sessions and an expo took place to deliver technological solutions about water-related development.
The latest forum served as an opportunity for K-water to publicize the corporation¡¯s achievements and vision as a leading company for a nexus of global water, energy and city, and ESG, and strengthen networks with leading global water industry institutions.
During the forum, K-water, Korea¡¯s representative water management institution, showed Korea¡¯s water management capabilities and technologies to the world.
It also struck an agreement on a pilot project to implement the world¡¯s first UNESCO tap water international certification system, which certifies the safety of tap water in cities worldwide, and launched the digital water platform ¡°wateRound¡± designed to solve global water issues based on advanced cloud foundation.
Korean water-related institutions from government, local autonomous bodies and companies operated the Korea Pavilion to introduce the nation¡¯s excellent carbon neutrality smart technologies.
K-water also helped its cooperative water-related companies hype their products and hold one-on-one negotiations to export them.
Earlier, K-water President Park Jae-hyeon said, ¡°K-water plans to have our excellent water management technologies and capabilities known to global society by participating the world¡¯s biggest water-related international event.¡±
K-water will devote itself to become ¡°the world¡¯s top K-water¡± solving climate change and global water issues and spearheading a nexus of global water, energy and city, Park said.
The Asia Water Council, chaired by K-water President Park Jae-hyeon, also set up a separate pavilion to publicize Asia¡¯s water issues and spread outcomes of the 2nd Asia Water Week held in Indonesia.
K-water Launches Digital Water Platform ¡®wateRound¡¯
K-water launched the digital water platform ¡®wateRound¡¯ on the sideline of the 9th World Water Forum at the Abdou Diouf International Convention Center in Senegal on March 22.
In 2020, K-water declared the vision ¡°the world¡¯s top integrated water platform company¡± and began to build a digital water platform.
The corporation has made efforts to build and reinvigorate the ecosystem of digital water industry by disclosing water-related data and developing digital services and exploring markets in Korea and abroad.
wateRound is a cloud-based platform, designed to develop and operate digital solutions contributing to diverse water issues by offering water-related data, possessed by K-water, the Ministry of Environment and other diverse institutions.
It will enable the producing, sharing and utilizing water-related data in a fast fashion and in a high-quality format and offer one-stop support to connect diverse consumers and suppliers around the world by supplying the solution transaction environment.
The platform¡¯s major functions include a marketplace in which water-related solutions are purchased and used, provision of data necessary for developing and analyzing solutions, integrated search of water-related technologies and academic materials.
Thirty-tree solutions, including an intelligent leakage surveillance system, are made available at the wateRound.
K-water plans to support cloud infrastructure, technology consulting, marketing and global market exploration to jointly explore promising innovation companies in the Korean water sector and develop them into leading companies in cooperation with Naver, the nation¡¯s biggest IT company.
Among those on hand at an event to launch the platform were Hong Jeong-sup, head of Han River Flood Control Center, Moon Jae-won, a director with the Ministry of Environment in charge of water industry cooperation, and Indonesian Dir.-Gen. Lilik.
K-water President Park said, as global water problems related to climate change have emerged as important issues influencing all human beings, K-water will devote itself to becoming the ¡°world¡¯s top K-water¡± by coping with climate change and water crises through waterRould and securing future growth engines by boosting the ecosystem of the water industry.
