Gyeongsangbuk-do Comes Up with Comprehensive Steps to Create Jobs in 2022
The Gyeongsangbuk-do provincial government announced comprehensive steps on March 31 to create jobs this year in accordance with a system of notifying regional job creation goals.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) has implemented a system to notify regional job creation goals since 2010 to raise regional local governments¡¯ concern about job creation.
They will implement job creation policies suiting each region¡¯s conditions.
The comprehensive steps for job creation contain this year¡¯s job creation goals and a detailed action plan to accomplish them. The annual detailed plan is in connection with the 7th-term public elected local governments¡¯ master plan on job creation.
Regional labor markets had worse employment indices overall, buffeted by the side-effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. They were exacerbated with constantly declining population and rising youth population outflow.
The number of employed women and workers at wholesale, retail, accommodation and eatery establishments are on the sharp decline and industrial conditions are too vulnerable to economic fluctuations.
To overcome the weakest job creation situation, Gyeongsangbuk-do will set aside 1,038.3 billion won this year, an increase of 50.5 billion won over the previous year, to implement five strategies, 18 major tasks and 183 detailed policies to support job creation.
As a result, the provincial government¡¯s aims to create 119,000 jobs with a goal of achieving an employment rate of 68 percent for age groups between 15 and 64 through the implementation of the policies.
The figures represent an increase of 3,543 newly created jobs and a 23 percentage point jump in the employment rate over last year.
