Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK) has succeeded in the development of an eco-friendly release film used for casting multi-layer chip capacitors (MLCC) using water for the first time in the world.
TAK announced the development of the world¡¯s first eco-friendly release film used for casting MLCCs using water instead of an organic agent.
The release film comprises a film-based layer formed by coating, wherein the release layer is coated with an agent.
TAK said the latest release film for MLCCs has a dual effect of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption sans a process of releasing harmful gases and oxidation treatment by using water instead of an organic agent.
The eco-friendly release film used for casting multi-layer chip capacitors (MLCC) using water, developed by Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK) for the first time in the world.
The latest release film boasts of not only uniform performance in a high-temperature situation, but also polymer dispersion and anti-static functions, so it is assessed to be eco-friendly and an excellent quality compared to conventional products.
TAK said the company, the nation¡¯s No.1 release film maker, is equipped with an integrated process ranging from base film to high-dimension fabrication.
TAK is exporting products to the IT material markets around the world, based on quality supremacy through a specialized production line for each product and stable supply, the company said.
Industry analysts say MLCCs, dubbed ¡°Essential One of the Industry,¡± are predicted to be on the rise, with an annual average growth rate of more than 10 percent, on the back of rising demand from EVs, self-driving cars, AI and information telecom data.
Meanwhile, TAK has diverse lineups, such as MLCCs, Polaroid and OLED products. Demand for the latest release film is expected to rise on the back of rising demand for eco-friendliness.
A TAK official said TAK continues to develop next-generation new materials based on ESG management and the company will contribute to developing customer companies¡¯ eco-friendly products.
TAK will make efforts to raise the competitiveness of the related industries and realize a sustainable future, the official added.

Vice Gov. Ha¡¯s tour was designed to ramp up communication with the foreign investment company, which contributes to raising the competitiveness of domestic industries to restore the declining regional economy and educe investments.
Vice Gov. Ha extended thanks and support to TAK, guarding the region in hard times, for creating jobs and contributing to developing the regional economy.
The provincial government will provide full support to make TAK a core center of the global value chain by having frequent communication and taking diverse support steps, Vice Gov. Ha added.
