LS Cable & System started construction of the plant at the 64,000 m©÷ (19,360 pyeong) site in the Artha Industrial Complex, near Jakarta, in September 2020.
LSAGI will mainly produce overhead lines for power transmission and distribution and low-voltage (LV) cables for buildings and plants.
Indonesia was the largest electric cable market in ASEAN, where electric power infrastructure is actively constructed and, the construction business is booming.
The company expects that the cable market will show a rapid recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic due to Indonesia¡¯s relocation of the capital and the entry of Korean companies.
¡°In the cable industry, each country is strengthening policies to protect its own companies,¡± said a company official. ¡°LS Cable & System is pursuing new businesses tailored to the local market for each overseas business site and responding with a strategy to increase independent business capabilities.¡±
LSAGI is a joint venture between LS Cable & System and Artha Graha Network (AG Group), Indonesia¡¯s 10th largest company.
LS Cable & System is planning to expand the market by utilizing the AG Group¡¯s local business experience and sales networks in banks, hotels, construction/resorts, and others.
With the completion of the Indonesian plant, LS Cable & System will operate a total of 12 production subsidiaries in foreign countries, including in the United States, Poland, Vietnam and China.

LS Cable & System and KERI Strike MOU for ¡®Carbon-Neutral Technology Development¡¯
LS Cable & System announced on Feb. 24 that the company signed an MOU for the development of technologies to realize carbon neutrality with Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI).
The two sides agreed to cooperate to develop new technologies and materials in the field of eco-friendliness and power transmission.
Fields of cooperation include safety diagnosis technology for power grids as well as joint research on superconducting transmission and distribution power devices and HVDC (High-Voltage Direct Current).
The superconducting cable is a representative eco-friendly cable with almost no power loss during transmission.
LS Cable & System commercialized it for the first time in the world in 2019, developed a next-generation product that increased power transmission by more than 20% in 2021, and is about to bring it to market for the first time in Korea in the first half of this year.
LS Cable & System to Supply Cables to Off-Shore Photovoltaic Power Plant off Goheung Bay
LS Cable & System (LS C&S) will supply 63MW undersea cables to an off-shore photovoltaic power plant, to be built at Goheung Bay in Jeollanam-do, the company said on March 8.
LS C&S will be in charge of supplying all cables necessary for the building of a power plant, including 1.5kV off-shore, DC cables and 154kV cables connecting substations.
Floating buoys is required for installing and connecting off-shore cables. LS C&S has developed off-shore photovoltaic power cables by making the most of its exercise of producing undersea cables and secured product properties such as water-tightness, flame-proofing, salt tolerance and flexibility.
The off-shore photovoltaic power cables are eco-friendly ones that do not emit water pollutants. LS C&S said the cable maker is ramping up a product portfolio in the renewable energy sector such as photovoltaic power and wind power.
LS C&S said the company is expanding markets by supplying photovoltaic power cables to about 500 locations, including ¡°Solar City¡± in Haenam County, Jeollanam-do.
