In Inaugural Ceremony, KAMCO announces annual training schedule, along with detailed courses and syllabuses for public servants

Kwon Nam-joo, vice president of Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO), took office as the new president of KAMCO on Jan. 18.

¡°I feel a big sense of responsibility as KAMCO president at this important time to mark the 60th anniversary of KAMCO,¡± President Kwon said at his inauguration ceremony at KAMCO Maru of the KAMCO headquarters at Busan International Financial Center (BIFC). 

¡°I will spare no efforts in further elevating the status of KAMCO as a state-run asset management agency.¡±

In his inaugural address, President Kwon stressed that KAMCO should take the lead in overcoming the crisis caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, by carrying out major projects such as personal overdue bond purchase funds and corporate support programs. 

¡°In order to promote balanced growth in all business sectors of homes, companies and the public sector, we should upgrade our business portfolio while also concentrating on our capabilities on expand and upgrade expertise to enhance our business capabilities,¡± Kwon said. 

¡°We need to thoroughly prepare to have the ability to lead future innovation by wisely responding to changes such as the 4th Industrial Revolution, facing the era of major transformations such as an industrial transformation, and energy transformation, as well as a digital transformation,¡± he added.

¡°We will take the initiative in win-win management and ESG management by expanding win-win cooperation for community development along with an upgrade of our enterprise-wide safety management system by giving top priority to safety management,¡± Kwon stressed. 

¡°Harmony and unity are the main driving force behind KAMCO¡¯s take-off to become an excellent company that will be able to prevail for 100 years or longer,¡± President Kwon explained. 

¡°I will create a fair system and corporate culture so that employees will be able to improve their work and produce tangible positive results and such results will be properly compensated through free and active communications.¡±

President Kwon joined KAMCO in 1998 when KAMCO was at the center of overcoming the financial crisis triggered by Korea¡¯s financial meltdown. 

Kwon served as vice president until May 2021 after working as the head of the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) Acquisition Strategy Office and the Human Resources Management Department and an executive director at KAMCO.

In the meantime, KAMCO announced that it will begin its annual training schedule on Jan. 21 once detailed courses and syllabuses for officials from the central and local governments are available.

KAMCO switched to offering all of its programs and courses online to minimize face-to-face contacts due to COVID-19 infection concerns in 2021. 

But beginning in the new year of 2022, it introduced a new blended teaching method that broadcasts lectures live via the video conferencing platform ZOOM and offering offline classes to maximize educational effects at the same time.

Moreover, to provide customized education according to students¡¯ work experience and understanding, KAMCO subdivided the education system and reorganized into basic courses, intensive courses and professional courses. 

In particular, the intensive courses focus on real situations and cases in the field. 

The professional courses will help students expand expertise and obtain highly specialized knowledge.

This year¡¯s curricula include the state-owned and public property management (the abolition of use, unauthorized occupation, urban planning, fact-finding surveys and law), public property acquisition projects (management and construction), national bond management (coercive collection and civil execution), among others.

¡°I hope the new process will satisfy students and enhance their job performance,¡± a KAMCO official said. 

¡°KAMCO will continue to make innovation-powered efforts to improve the quality of education services as a dedicated public official job training institution.¡±

KAMCO is a public official training institution selected by the Ministry of Personnel Management. 

Since 2016, the KAMCO Human Resources Development Institute in Asan, South Chungcheong Province has provided job training courses and programs for more than 2,000 public servants every year.
