President Kim Hyun-joon of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) said, ¡°We¡¯ll make a fresh leap forward in 2022 by reforming beyond the public¡¯s expectations, with the spirit of the Chinese saying ¡°haehyeongyeongjang,¡± meaning institutional reform amidst the continuity of huge policy projects and soul-searching.¡±
In his New Year¡¯s message, President Kim said, ¡°We¡¯ll reform ourselves to people¡¯s expectations while performing government policies, such as expanding the housing supply.¡±
This year will likely face outside environmental uncertainties, such as inflation and the spread of coronavirus variants, and LH is in a difficult environment by pouring up to 40 trillion won to implement housing supply policies in earnest, including a third satellite city, he said.
President Kim came up with four management tasks for the year: mobilizing capabilities to perform policies, creating new city and housing business models, offering higher housing welfare services and raising sustainability through ESG management.
Kim called for mobilizing companywide capabilities to successfully carry out policies, such as expanding the housing supply and balancing territory development.
LH plans to concentrate on expanding jeonse-type housing supply by buying rental units. The step is designed to expand housing in the Seoul metropolitan area to stabilize the real estate market, which is showing recent signs of lower house prices.
The corporation plans to promote balanced territory development by implementing advanced urban industrial complex, K-smart city, and K-industrial complex projects, as well as exploring the private sector¡¯s overseas market entry.
President Kim spoke of the importance of developing new city and housing business models beyond the housing supply.
LH will meet public expectations by making future city and housing models, embracing great transition trends such as post-COVID-19 pandemic and carbon neutrality, and future smart cities will be built by utilizing new technologies such as alternative housing units for youth near subway stations, digital twin and building information modeling (BIM) for city development, he said.

To this end, Prof. Ken Nah of Hongik University International Design School for Advanced Studies, has been commissioned as master designer of the project. He works as a panel member of Red Dot Award and chairman of the K-design committee.
LH created guidelines on the design of public housing in cooperation with experts, such as architect Ahn Ji-yong, president of Manifesto Design Lab and Prof. Kim Young-min of University of Seoul and Prof. Lee Hyang-eun of Sungshin Women¡¯s University.
