Donates 1.2 billion won in public interest funds set aside by operating Victorious Korea Fund as scholarships for students

Son Byung-hwan, Chairman of NH NongHyup Financial Group, carried out social contribution activities for local communities and rural areas together with executives and employees.

NH NongHyup Financial Group announced on November 7 that Chairman Son and employees helped farmers in South Chungcheong Province for social value management on November 5. 

Chairman Sohn held a scholarship grant ceremony with South Chungcheong Province Governor Yang Seung-jo, who doubles as chairman of the South Chungcheong Province Human Resources Development Foundation, at the South Chungcheong Province Office in Hongseong, South Chungcheong Province. 

In the ceremony, the participants showed their strong will to help the province foster people of talent and support local communities in the province. The funds will be delivered through the South Chungcheong Province Sales Headquarters of NongHyup Bank and will be used for youth support projects and scholarship programs.

On hand in the ceremony were Gil Jung-seop, head of the South Chungcheong Province and Sejong City Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, Yeo Un-chul, head of NongHyup Bank¡¯s Chungcheong Province Sales Headquarters, and officials from the South Chungcheong Province Office and South Chungcheong Province Human Resources Development Foundation. 

¡°It is quite meaningful that NH NongHyup Financial Group can support the growth of local talented people,¡± Chairman Sohn said. ¡°Now is a difficult time but I hope that young people, the future of Korea, will be able to cheer up and work harder to live out their dreams.¡±
 
Chairman Son later moved to Yesan, South Chungcheong Province, to help farmers who lacked workers in farming areas due to the COVID-19 crisis. 

Roughly 30 NongHyup Financial volunteers, including Chairman Son, harvested apples and conducted environmental maintenance with Lee Yeon-won, president of the Deoksan Branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, Kim Myung-sik, head of NongHyup Bank¡¯s Yesan Branch, and NongHyup Bank executives and employees in South Chungcheong Province.





Donation of Money from Victorious Korea Fund Operation

NH NongHyup Financial Group announced on December 5 that it has delivered 1.2 billion won in public interest funds, which were set aside by operating Victorious Korea Fund as scholarships for students majoring in materials, parts and equipment for Korean industry at 12 engineering colleges selected by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Victorious Korea Fund is the first private fund launched by NH-Amundi Asset Management in August 2019. The stock-type fund mainly invests in materials, parts, equipment-related companies or promising Korean companies with strong global competitiveness.
 
¡°I hope this scholarship will help foster future talents to boost Korea¡¯s industrial competitiveness,¡± Chairman Son said. ¡°NH NongHyup Financial Group will continue to do its best to contribute to various public projects as well as domestic industrial development.¡± 

NH NongHyup Financial Group plans to continue to donate public interest funds accumulated by operating the Victorious Korea Fund.

 


Sharing ¡®Kimchi of Love¡¯

Bae Bae-yeol, vice president of NH NongHyup Financial Group and NH NongHyup Financial Group Volunteer Corps, took commemorative photos with residents after conducting social contribution activities to share ¡°kimchi of love¡± at Wangdaechu Village, in Dong-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do.

NH NongHyup Financial Group announced on November 19 that Bae Bae-yeol, vice president of NongHyup Financial Group conducted social contribution activities to make and share ¡°kimchi of love¡± with the NongHyup Financial Group Volunteer Corps at Wang Daechu Village in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province in the middle of November.

The kimchi sharing event has been held by NongHyup Financial Group since 2013 so it marks the ninth year this year. NongHyup Financial Group has been using kimchi made with agricultural products produced in its sister villages.

The NH NongHyup Financial Group Volunteer Corps donated the kimchi to a welfare organization in Jung-gu, Seoul. This kimchi will be delivered to neighbors in need such as the elderly living alone and single-parent families through the organization.
