Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corp. (SLC) is operating a pilot program in which people can tour the landfill via a VR format for two weeks from Dec. 1 and Dec. 14.
People can look at how to treat garbage according to its classification via the VR tour platform on SLC¡¯s website (www.slc.or.kr) and kiosks, VR videos on the landfill site, filmed via drone, as well as 360 degree pictures of four seasons of the wild flower park and the whole view of the Dream Park Country Club.
SLC President Shin Chang-hyun said, ¡°We intend to offer VR content on views such as a third landfill site facilities and garbage to resources facilities which the general public cannot visit freely as if they would experience a field tour there in person.¡±
SLC plans to implement the program in a full-fledged fashion after it is upgraded for the better following the pilot program, he said.

Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corp. was presented with the top prize in the public entity category at the 14th Korea Communications Awards ceremony held at the Ferrum Tower in Euljiro, Seoul, on Nov. 17.
SLC has been recognized for having aggressively communicated with citizens by producing and posting diverse online content on the campaign ¡°Ssuhwaghaeng¡± to reduce garbage emissions in the Seoul metropolitan area.
The project was designed to give words of encouragement to small businesses, and new media student reporters on environment experiences.
Lee Gyu-sung, head of SLC¡¯s management division, said, ¡°Winning the prize is more significant at a time which the importance of non-face-to-face communications is stressed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.¡±
SLC intends to become a public entity which is actively communicating with citizens through diverse channels down the road, he added.
The Korea Communications Awards event is organized by the Korea Internet Communication Association (KICOA).
Winners are determined from about 255 companies and 148 public entities after experts screen them based on the Interactive Communication Satisfaction Index (ICSI), the Social Communication Satisfaction Index (SCSI) and the Content Quality Index.
