Will implement a pilot robot project to automate bank services for branches for the first time in the Korean banking sector

Shinhan Bank announced on Nov. 5 that it was selected as a member of the KSI Hall of Fame for achieving the top spot in the banking sector for the 10th consecutive year at the 2021 Korea Sustainability Competition, organized by the Korea Standards Association.

The Korea Sustainability Index (KSI) is an index that evaluates a company¡¯s level of sustainability in terms of seven items of the ISO 26000, the standard for corporate social responsibility. 

It measures and evaluates how actively companies manage and improve their sustainability issues and activities.

Stakeholders such as customers, local communities, shareholders, and partners and experts evaluated 48 industries, 202 companies, and public institutions in order to rank them. 

Shinhan Bank won first prize in the banking sector in recognition of its achievements in pursuing social and community values by communicating with various stakeholders and actively responding to major industrial issues.

A case in point is a project to help marginalized, those whom have fallen through the nation¡¯s social safety net. Starting with vehicle and fuel expenses support for the National Abuse Children¡¯s Shelter in May, Shinhan Bank provided meal boxes to undernourished children during the summer vacation in July, Korean language education and psychological treatment for children from multicultural families in August, and nutritional meal kits the elderly living alone in September.

¡°We are happy to see Shinhan Bank become a KSI Hall of Famer by picking up first place for 10 consecutive years in the sustainability index, a key indicator of the future direction of companies,¡± a Shinhan Bank official said. 

¡°We will steadily put ESG management into practice so that corporate economic and social community values will be able to grow together.¡± 





Branch Robot Employee Project for Business Automation

Shinhan Bank announced on Nov. 4 that it will implement a pilot robot project to automate bank services for branches for the first time in the Korean banking sector.

As part of the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Advancement Project, the pilot robot employee project implements customized automation with RPA technology for tasks that occur repeatedly at specific branches, such as mass issuance of national housing bonds. 

¡°This initiative will enable Shinhan Bank to boost the efficiency of branch offices and focus more on consultations for customers,¡± an official from Shinhan Bank said. 

Branch robot employees will be assigned to the Gongdeok Financial Center Branch, the Incheon Court Branch and the Seoul Western District Court Branch. 

Shinhan Bank will check how effective they will be at these branches. 

In the future, Shinhan Bank will expand its robot employee system by widening the scope of their automation-enabled tasks and upgrading optimized automation processes tailored to the characteristics of branch services.




Digilog Branch at Hong Kong Fintech Week

Shinhan Bank announced on Nov. 8 that it introduced Digilog Branch, a bank branch of the future, at Korea Pavilion during the 6th Hong Kong Fintech Week hosted by the Hong Kong government. 

The Hong Kong Fintech Week is one of Asia¡¯s largest fintech events with more than 100 countries, more than 17,000 participants and more than 300 media outlets. 

This year, the event was held online and offline out of new coronavirus concerns. 

The Hong Kong Consulate General set up Korea Pavilion for Korean startups and financial institutions.
 
Shinhan Bank promoted Digilog Branch, a future innovation store that combines digital and analog on behalf of Korean financial institutions.

Shinhan Bank¡¯s Digilog Branch is a future financial space where digital technology and human emotions coexist. 

The branch has been created as a space for customer-centered human touches in digital innovations in finance. 

As a digital test bed, Digilog Branch brings innovation to bank branches¡¯ processes, contents and space, improving work efficiency.
