Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF) announced on Oct. 26 that it made a contribution to the Busan Branch of the Community Chest of Korea to support marginalized children and teenagers in 20 children welfare facilities in the coastal city.

In order to raise the donation funds, HF employees carried out the ¡°Happy Feet with HF¡± Campaign to record 50 million steps for four weeks, starting from September 15, and delivered the donation to local communities when they reach the campaign goal.

HF employees achieved 16.7 million steps, more than twice their goal, thanks to employees¡¯ active participation.

Therefore, HF will deliver 55 million won worth of daily necessities — such as food, health products, and clothing — to 900 children and teenagers in 20 children welfare facilities in Busan.

In addition, it decided to support them by paying educational expenses for English language study and computer study, among others, and expenses to study for certificates such as special machinery licenses and hairstyling licenses.

¡°The Happy Feet with HF Campaign reached out to children and adolescents in our local communities, boosted employees¡¯ health and reduced carbon emissions,¡± HF President Choi Joon-woo said.

¡°HF will continue to take the lead in ESG management for public good.¡±

On Nov. 10, the Housing Finance Research Institute of HF holds an academic seminar with the Global Financial Research Institute of Dong-A University and the Strategic Management Research Institute of Pukyong University. Researchers and officials pose for a photo after the seminar.

In the meantime, HF announced on Nov. 10 that it held a seminar and a joint presentation event through industry-academic cooperation with the Global Financial Research Institute of Dong-A University and the Strategic Management Research Institute of Pukyong University.

HF signed business agreements with the Global Financial Research Institute of Dong-A University in September 2020 and the Strategic Management Research Institute of Pukyong University in April 2021.

The seminar zeroed in on two themes, environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainable finance and digital business process reengineering (BPR).

ESG is an evaluation of a firm¡¯s collective conscientiousness for social and environmental factors.

It is typically a score that is compiled from data collected surrounding specific metrics related to intangible assets within the enterprise. It could be considered a form of corporate social credit score.

BPR is a business management strategy, originally pioneered in the early 1990s, focusing on the analysis and design of workflows and business processes within an organization.

BPR aimed to help organizations fundamentally rethink how they do their work in order to improve customer service, cut operational costs, and become world-class competitors.

In the seminar, Participants made presentations on papers on four subjects jointly written by HF, Dong-A University and Pukyong University.

The four subjects were the delinquency rate of Bogeumjari loans, factors affecting early repayment, the characteristics of marginalized people without houses and determining factors in conversions to trust-based housing pensions.

Meanwhile, a research paper on an analysis of the hedge efficiency of government bond futures jointly published by the Housing Finance Research Institute of HF and the Global Financial Research Institute of Dong-A University was selected as an excellent paper at the 4th Korea-Japan Summer Academic Seminar hosted by the Korea Money and Finance Association in August.
