Ulsan Port Authority (UPA) obtained a certificate of excellent labor-management relations from Korea Management Research Institute (KMR), UPA said on Nov. 17.
A certificate of excellent labor-management relations has been awarded to companies recognized for forming future-oriented labor-management relations after evaluating labor and management leadership, outcomes of labor-management relations and maturity of their ties.
UPA was given excellent evaluations overall, including obtaining 97 points in the labor and management leadership category.
UPA was given higher points for implementing a remote smart work system, a flexible, selective workday system, a yearly leave accumulation system and other regimes to support a balance of work and family.
UPA made the feat of having no labor disputes for the 14th consecutive year since it was established.
In October, UPA was designated as the best exemplary company in a public contest involving the balancing of work and life, organized by the Ulsan Brach Office of the Ministry of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL).
UPA President Kim Jae-gyun said, ¡°I feel a sense of pride as the head of UPA for being awarded the certificate in recognition of having so far made efforts to improve labor-management relations and co-existence.¡±
UPA will be an exemplary company by attaching top priority to trust between labor and management and spearheading regional labor-management culture, he added.

UPA Establishes Ulsan Port 2050 Carbon Neutrality Act Plan
Ulsan Port Authority (UPA) had a meeting on Oct. 6 with operators of Ulsan Port wharves and heads of related organizations to form consensus on the realization of carbon neutrality of Ulsan Port.
The meeting was designed to help officials from related organizations share and form a need for joint efforts and consensus on the realization of carbon neutrality of Ulsan Port in accordance with the government¡¯s declaration of 2050 carbon neutrality and the inauguration of each industry¡¯s carbon neutrality joint consultative body.
Experts presented views on ports¡¯ responses to climate change and sustainability, takeaways of the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), trends of global maritime ports and the Korean government¡¯s 2050 carbon neutrality initiative, the International Energy Agency¡¯s carbon neutrality scenario, and each industry¡¯s implications.
UPA also published a booklet targeting related organizations to explain takeaway of the government¡¯s 2050 carbon neutrality scenarios and the Basic Act on Carbon Neutrality.
In July, UPA became the first public entity to establish the Ulsan Port 2050 carbon neutrality action plan and roadmap on its own.
UPA inaugurated the Ulsan Port Carbon Neutrality Pursuit Committee to receive consultations on carbon neutrality action strategies.
UPA Senior Executive Vice President Chung Chang-gyu in charge of operation said, ¡°First, it is important for stakeholders with Ulsan Port to promote communications and form consensus with each other to make joint effort and yield outcomes to realize carbon neutrality of the whole of Ulsan Port.¡±
UPA will aggressively make joint efforts to support the building of eco-friendly Ulsan Port foundation through mutual cooperation by building Ulsan Port carbon neutrality action governance with each related body head, he added.
