Hana Financial Group announced that it signed a strategic business agreement with Tishman Speyer, one of the largest real estate investment companies in the United States, on Sept. 28 to push forward with joint global real estate investing based on ESG.
On hand at the ceremony, held online due to COVID-19, were Lee Jong-seung, vice president of global business at Hana Financial Group, Shin Myung-chul, head of the Infrastructure Finance Division at Hana Financial Investment and Rob Speyer, CEO of Tishman Speyer.
Through this business agreement, Hana Financial Group and Tishman Speyer plan to discover various blue-chip investment opportunities in overseas real estate markets such as the United States, Europe and Asia.
The two sides agreed to jointly push for a capital investment of up to $500 million over the next two years. The two companies will focus on reflecting ESG innovation-related factors, which recently emerged as the most important topic in their investment decision process.
They will consider various ESG-related factors such as energy efficiency and resource consumption of real estate which they will invest in.
They will also consider investing in life science research facilities and bio-tech facilities capable of mass-producing medical devices, equipment and drugs growing in demand due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
In addition, Hana Financial Group plan to take the lead in diversifying the group¡¯s revenue bases and actively managing environmental and social risks through Hana Bank¡¯s real estate PF arrangement, Hana Financial Investment¡¯s equity investment and Hana Alternative Asset Management¡¯s in the joint global real estate investment process.
¡°Tishman Speyer is a company with expertise in real estate projects with sovereign wealth funds and pension funds,¡± Lee Jong-seung said in the business agreement ceremony.
¡°Hana Financial Group will strive to realize its ESG Vision ¡®Big Step for Tomorrow¡¯ by receiving global ESG investment know-how from Tishman Speyer."
¡°Both companies will strive to improve the quality of life of people around the world together while sharing the same passion for innovation and participation in projects for the development of local communities,¡± said Rob Speyer.
¡°This strategic alliance will lay the foundation for achieving joint missions between the two companies."
Tishman Speyer was established as a real estate investment company in New York in 1978.
The company operates 19 global channels around the world and boasts famous lucrative assets such as the Rockefeller Center and Chrysler Building in New York, the Sony Center in Berlin and Millbank Tower in London.
Meanwhile, Hana Financial Group held the Special Exhibition on Sports for the Disabled on the first floor of the group¡¯s headquarters building in Myeong-dong, Seoul on Sept. 29 to promote disabled people¡¯s sports with an event to encourage Korea¡¯s national athletes who took part in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
The exhibition organized by Hana Financial Group and the Korea Disabled Sports Association will run for a month until the end of October.
It will feature interesting models and symbols about Paralympics events such as track and field, table tennis and basketball and Paralympics athletes to vividly show challenges and touching moments during the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
Ham Young-joo, vice chairman of ESG & Head of Hana Financial Group Sports Business Division, took part in the event with Jeong Jin-wan, President of the Korea Disabled Sports Association, boccia gold medalists Jung Ho-won and Choi Ye-jin, and table tennis silver medalist Seo Soo-yeon.
Hana Financial Group made the event more meaningful by presenting photos of the athletes themselves as advertising models for Hana Financial Group in commemorative frames along with bonuses.
Under the theme of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, Hana Bank produced and ran a print advertisement with Jung Ho-won, Choi Ye-jin, and Seo Soo-yeon as models in an effort to publicize the Korean Paralympics Team¡¯s enhancement of national prestige in Tokyo.
