Woori Bank held a ceremony on Sept. 9 to award letters of appointment to new employees in the digital and IT sectors using a Metaverse platform.

It was conducted for the purpose of hiring new employees in the digital and IT sector in a non-face-to-face way in consideration of compliance with social distancing against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Woori Bank said it created the same space as the auditorium of Woori Bank¡¯s headquarters, the venue for the appointment of new bank employees, for the event by using the Metaverse platform.

It also created avatars of Woori Bank President Kwon Kwang-seok and the new employees to enhance realism and immersion.

In May, Woori Bank hired new employees in the digital and IT sectors to foster the bank¡¯s key digital talent.

The new bank employees were selected through a written test consisting of questions about financial and digital trends, data analysis capabilities and digital insight interviews that comprehensively evaluate their logical thinking skills.

They will be dispatched to bank branches for six months to learn practical skills and complete digital finance MBA courses at major universities such as the KAIST. Then they will be assigned to related departments at Woori Bank.

¡°We held a ceremony through the Metaverse platform to award letters of appointment to new employees as they will work in the digital and IT sectors at Woori Bank and is highly receptive to digital new technologies,¡± a Woori Bank official said.

¡°We will continue to expand the scope of digital technology use by combining digital technologies including the metaverse with our bank business and services.¡±
