Woori Bank Awards Letters of Appointment to New Employees through Metaverse Platform

Woori Bank held a ceremony on Sept. 9 to award letters of appointment to new employees in the digital and IT sectors using a Metaverse platform.
It was conducted for the purpose of hiring new employees in the digital and IT sector in a non-face-to-face way in consideration of compliance with social distancing against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Woori Bank said it created the same space as the auditorium of Woori Bank¡¯s headquarters, the venue for the appointment of new bank employees, for the event by using the Metaverse platform.
It also created avatars of Woori Bank President Kwon Kwang-seok and the new employees to enhance realism and immersion.
In May, Woori Bank hired new employees in the digital and IT sectors to foster the bank¡¯s key digital talent.
The new bank employees were selected through a written test consisting of questions about financial and digital trends, data analysis capabilities and digital insight interviews that comprehensively evaluate their logical thinking skills.
They will be dispatched to bank branches for six months to learn practical skills and complete digital finance MBA courses at major universities such as the KAIST. Then they will be assigned to related departments at Woori Bank.
¡°We held a ceremony through the Metaverse platform to award letters of appointment to new employees as they will work in the digital and IT sectors at Woori Bank and is highly receptive to digital new technologies,¡± a Woori Bank official said.
¡°We will continue to expand the scope of digital technology use by combining digital technologies including the metaverse with our bank business and services.¡±
Fall Subscription Savings Event
Woori Bank announced in early September that it will hold the Fall Subscription Savings Event until the Oct. 29.
The event targets new customers who signed up for general housing subscription savings accounts and general housing subscription savings accounts for young people.
A total of 500 people will be selected in a draw and given a national tourism gift certificate of 1 million won (five people), Nintendo Switch (15 people), Korean beef set (20 people), and Starbucks mobile coffee coupons (460 people).
In addition, customers who switched from general housing subscription savings to general housing subscription savings for young people will be able to take part in the event.
General housing subscription savings are subscription products that give priority to purchases of government-built and privately built houses.
Customers can freely pay between 20,000 won and 500,000 won per month. However, general housing subscription savings for young people can be subscribed if some conditions are met. For example, they should be householders with an annual income of less than 30 million won who is aged 19 to 34 but do not own their homes.
For a two-year subscription, the interest rate stood at 1.8 percent per year for general housing subscription savings and up to 3.3 percent per year for general housing subscription savings for young people on Sept. 6.
Subscription with Pink Pong Event
Woori Bank announced that it will hold the Subscription with Pink Pong Event for infants and toddlers until Oct. 29.
The target of this event is customers who signed up for Our Child Happiness Housing Subscription General Savings from Sept. 1st to Oct. 29 and registered automatic transfers.
Through a lottery, 500 people will be given Singing ATM Bank Play Sets that allows children to learn about managing and saving money.
Children can learn economic knowledge through fun games with the toy set containing Pink Pong and Baby Shark characters and paying children's songs.
¡°We organized the Subscription with Pink Pong Event to play bank games at home with our children in a situation where it is difficult to go out due to COVID-19 concerns,¡± a Woori Bank official said.
¡°We will continue to provide events offering services and benefits that can satisfy customers.¡±
