S-Oil¡¯s plant in Ulsan achieved the milestone of 8 million accident free man-hours for the first time since its operation.
That means there was not a single accident involving injuries, fires and explosions at the plant for a combined 627 days since Oct. 22, 2019.
The refinery company said the achievement was owed to the safety management system in place at the plant, reflecting S-Oil CEO Hussain A. Al-Qahtani¡¯s focus on safety.
CEO Al-Qahtani has made an inspection tour to ensure the safety of the plant every month since 2019 when he took office.
The plant has devoted itself to spreading awareness of safety. Executives and managers have made joint inspection tours, and each department has had meetings designed to ensure safety.
CEO Al-Qahtani met with officials at the S-Oil plant in Ulsan and extended thanks to staffers who had toiled day and night to establish policies on safety.
In particular, S-Oil has strived to build world-class awareness of safety. The refinery company has had companywide safety management committee meetings involving CEO Al-Qahtani and other executives, as well as town hall meetings on safety on a quarterly basis. The aim has been to establish policies on safety and share inside and outside accident cases.
S-Oil has also offered educational programs tailored to meet each job classification and rank.
S-Oli has a behavior-based safety (SBS) in place.
The refinery company has reinforced a safety management system by introducing a care program designed to find and eliminate causes of accidents in advance and explore and focus on managing emergency cases that could lead to major accidents.
S-Oil operates a system on the certification of the qualification of its cooperative companies and a program on the mutual cooperation of safety and health, steps designed to improve efforts to prevent safety accidents of workers with its cooperative companies and their capability related to safety management.
