Everyone will be able to cheer for Korean Olympians online during the Tokyo Olympic Games.

To that end, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will run Team Korea House on the internet, considering the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism began operating online ¡°Team Korea House¡± the Korea Sports Council on July 15.

Team Korea House is a website designed to promote Korean culture and support Olympic athletes at a time when there are no on-site exhibitions and cheering due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Team Korea House will run on its website (
www.teamkoreahouse.com) until Aug. 8 when the Tokyo Olympic Games comes to an end.

¡°We hope that Team Korea House will be a base to promote the Korean culture and support Korea¡¯s national players in Tokyo as the spread of the COVID-19 virus makes it difficult for the Korean people to cheer for players representing Korea in Tokyo, Japan,¡± said an official of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

¡°I hope more Koreans at home and abroad will visit Team Korea House to support our athletes who have been working hard for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.¡±

Team Korea House is a website created with traditional Korean houses as its motif. The website not only provides information on the Olympic Games and Korean athletes, but introduces Korean culture.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the website will provide various contents, including the promotion of Korean culture, sports, and tourism, cheering for the Korean national team and giving away prizes during the Tokyo Olympic period.

The Exhibition Hall, which introduces Korean culture, consists of online virtual reality (VR) spaces, so visitors can look around the place as if they were looking around the exhibition hall in person.

The VR Exhibition Hall consists of Courtyard, K-Sports, K-Culture, and K-Travel.

They offer specific contents and information about the Olympic Games and K-pop information, famous Korean Olympic heroes that informed the world of Korea, the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics, traditional houses, dresses and ceremonies, Korean popular culture and tourist attractions popular among foreigners.

Team Korea House also has set up a virtual place to experience Olympic events in the virtual world based on Metaverse technology.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has created an expanded virtual world by collaborating with Naver¡¯s 3D avatar application ¡°Zepeto¡± to experience various Olympic events (football, baseball, swimming and more).

You can take group selfies at various Olympic stadiums or participate in Olympic Games yourself at Team Korea House created in Zepeto.

You can enter Team Korea House in Zepeto by downloading the Zepeto application from App Store or Google Play Store and entering Team Korea House by searching the name or using a map code (57268000).
