Samsung C&T Construction Group revealed a plan on July 12 to set aside its own safety management costs on top of the mandatory safety management costs to dramatically raise the safety levels of worksites.
Contractors have appropriated somewhere between 1.2 percent and 3.43 percent of construction project costs as safety management expenses to ensure the safety of domestic construction sites in accordance with the Act on Industrial Safety and Health, but there are many cases in which additional investments are needed to cope with a variety of construction site safety situations.
In this context, Samsung C&T plans to make additional safety management costs available immediately if additional steps are considered to be taken.
In particular, each worksite will be guaranteed to have a leeway over the execution and the scope of additional safety management costs so that their utilization may be spurred.

Mandatory safety management costs will be paid to cooperative companies as planned, a departure from the conventional method of payment based on the confirmed execution, so that cooperative company can invest in ensuring safety even at an early stage.
In the case safety management costs surpass planned amounts, the excess amounts will be settled to cooperative companies.
Samsung C&T plans to strengthen its overall support to raise safety levels of both worksites and cooperative companies.
