Lotte E&C entered the Singaporean construction market by landing a 120 billion won project to design and build the Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub (JE ITH) from Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA).
Lotte E&C and its Singaporean partner, Bintai Kindenko Pte Ltd., will be responsible for the design and installation of mechanical and electrical works for the Jurong East integrated Transport Hub.
The JE ITH comprises community and civic institutions, an office tower and a bus interchange.
The project will feature a 27-story tower block connected by a sky bridge to an eight-story podium block. The development will have offices, public facilities as well as retail spaces.
Of late, Lotte E&C is aggressively accelerating efforts to expand global markets to secure its future growth momentum. In particular, the Korean contractor is stepping on the gas to tap the Southeast Asian market with a focus on Vietnam and Indonesia.
In Vietnam, Lotte E&C is working on the construction of Lotte Mall Honi, a large-sized multi-purpose mall in Hanoi. The contractor was awarded with a 350 billion won project to build a hotel in Star Lake, a new satellite city, last year.
Lotte E&C is engaged in numerous investment projects. The contractor is working on Lotte Eco Smart City Project, a multi-complex project in Thu Thiem District in Ho Chi Minh City.
Lotte E&C is implementing five housing projects through partnerships with a Vietnamese developer — four projects in Ho Chi Minh City and one project in Hanoi.
Among them are the La Premier Development Project, calling or the construction of 725 apartment units and Centuria D9 Development Project in Ho Chi Minh City. They are to be distributed in lotteries in the second half.
Lotte E&C is implementing Garden City New East 2 Development Project in Jakarta through a partnership with Modernland, an Indonesian large-sized developer.
The project calls for the construction of 3,300 apartment units. The Korean contractor is pushing ahead with a project to build a 2,500-unit office-housing complex Kelapa Gading, Indonesia.
In 2018, Lotte E&C entered the Cambodian market for the first time. The contractor successfully dedicated a project to build a new headquarters building for Sathapana Bank this past January. The contractor carried out a multiple of petrochemical plant projects in Malaysia.
A Lotte E&C official said the latest winning order is a significant first step to Singapore, an advanced construction market.
Lotte E&C plans to concentrate efforts to win orders in diverse areas such as architecture, civil engineering and infrastructure by conducting aggressive sales marketing activities with a focus on a branch office in Singapore down the road and expand market entry to its neighboring Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines by ramping up global competitiveness, the official said.
