Amorepacific Group issued an electronic filing in which the group posted 1.387.5 trillion won in sales and 197.7 billion won in operating profit in the first quarter of this year.


The figures represented an 8.5 percent surge and a 191.1 percent jump in terms of sales and operating profit, respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year.
Amorepacific Group succeeded in turning around its business performance in Q1.


The group saw its overall sales rise on the continued high growth of online sales and a recovery of growth momentum in China. In particular, luxury brands such as Sulwhasoo contributed to improving its operating profit.


The group¡¯s cosmetics business, except the daily beauty category, chalked up 1.295.4 trillion won in sales.


Amorepacific, the flagship company of the group, saw sales soar 10.8 percent year-on-year to 1.252.8 trillion won.


Operating profit swelled 189.2 percent year-on-year to 176.2 billion won. The domestic business saw its sales rise 6.9 percent to 813.5 billion won, and its operating profit soared 44.7 percent to 125.3 billion won.


The overseas business saw sales surge 19.6 percent to 447.4 billion won. Operating profit amounted to 53.3 billion won, changing into a surplus.


In Korea, online sales jumped more than 30 percent, and duty-free channel growth was outstanding. The domestic business saw its operating profit rise through the improving of a channel mix and realigning of its product portfolio prioritizing luxury brands.


The luxury brand Sulwhasoo showed high growth by intensively nurturing lines such as ¡°Jaeumsaeng¡± (Concentrated Ginseng Renewing) and ¡°Jinsul¡± (Timetreasure).


The brand Hera intensified its luxury skin care category by releasing products such as ¡°Signia Luminesource Radiance Firming.¡±


The premium brand Laneige saw online sales grow more than 10 percent by nurturing core products such as ¡°Laneige Radian-C Cream.¡±


Amorepacific ramped up its brand competitiveness by launching ¡°Soluderm,¡± a brand established with collaboration with an influencer and releasing innovative products such as ¡°Mamonde Probiotics Ceramide Cream.¡±


Amorepacific also focused on securing growth engines such as ¡°Mise-en-Scene,¡± ¡°Labo-H¡± and ¡°Illiyoon.¡±


Amorepacific succeeded in seeing sales jump 20 percent and a shift into a surplus in operating profit in the overseas markets.


In particular, Amorepacific made a good achievement centering around rising sales of Sulwhasoo products on Woman¡¯s Day on March 8 in China and rising on-line sales to see overall sales surge some 30 percent.


Amorepacific saw Sulwhasoo sales grow evenly, particularly with rising Sulwhasoo and Laneige sales in Thailand and Vietnam.


On-line sales rose on on-line channels such as Amazon in North Americas. ¡°Lip Treatment Balm,¡± released by Laneige, showed rising sales. As the brand ¡°innisfree¡± opened an outlet at Sephora in Europe, overall sales grew with a focus on multi-brand shop channels.

IOPE Releases Two New Anti-Aging Products


Amorepacific brand ¡°IOPE¡± released two new anti-aging products for men: ¡°Men Bio Essence Intensive Conditioning EX¡± and ¡°Men Anti-Aging Emulsion.¡±


Men Bio Essence Intensive Conditioning EX is a product initially applied after face washing.


Its main ingredients include Bio-redox TM, an anti-aging agent developed with its own technology and peppermint extracts. It is used for caring skin fatigued with stress.


Men Anti-Aging Emulsion is an anti-aging moisture product designed to improve wrinkles and strengthen elasticity. Bean extracts and taurine ramp skin anti-ageing and vigor while adenosine contributes to improving wrinkles.
