Health Insurance firm Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) plans to implement ¡°Digital New Deal,¡± called ¡°H-New Deal,¡± offering health services based on tailored medical information from big data.

The project calls for building ¡°HIRA Digital Platform,¡± which will involve big data from medicine, checkups and operations.

Business sources said on March 25 that HIRA created the Digital Innovation Headquarters early this year, a move to lead digital transformation and concentrate its companywide capabilities to the initiative.

HIRA plans to make the Digital Innovation Headquarters play a leading role in evolving digital transformation and spearheading efforts to explore and implement tasks on people-centered data connectivity and utilization.

HIRA has been recognized for the superb operation of its representative HIRA System, which applies the Drug Utilization Review (DUR), medicine distribution and health and medical care resources using advanced ICT to the health and medical care sector.

DUR aims to improve drug safety and prevent misuse and abuse of drugs by prescreening for their inappropriate use and dispensing.

HIRA has been credited with carrying out a systematic response against the COVID-19 pandemic, ranging from tracking cases as soon as possible to the fast treatment and prevention of its spread.

For instance, adding travel information to the DUR System has allowed clinical doctors to find patents with high danger levels at the earliest possible date.

One of HIRA¡¯s exemplary practices is realizing a system of preventing the duplicated purchases of masks designed to spread the pandemic in just three days.

It will be outfitted with systems to utilize a variety of data in the post-COVID-19 era.

As a first part of the plan, HIRA will build HIRA Digital Platform to help achieve digital innovation. The takeaway of the HIRA Digital Platform is changing medical institutions-centered data sets, possessed by HIRA, into individuals-centered ones.

Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) won the presidential award of national quality innovation last Nov. 19 in recognition for offering innovation services, such as the realization of a system of preventing the duplicated purchases of masks designed to spread the pandemic.

HIRA plans to upgrade ¡°People-Oriented My Data¡± by connecting and integrating a variety of inside data sets.

HIRA also plans to arrange a data quality management regime designed to ensure connectivity of outside data on a gradual basis.

The service ¡°My Medicines at a Glance¡± will be expanded to offer health and medical care services tailored to meet people¡¯s needs, such as ¡°My Checkups Conducted¡± and medical information.

HIRA is considering simplifying content routes to realize information services in a more safe and convenient fashion and introducing new intelligent information technologies, such as blockchain and location-based services (LBS).

HIRA Executive Director Kim Sun-min said, ¡°The purpose of the establishment of the HIRA Digital Platform aims to focus on the utilization of data, not building the platform itself, and it will be a realistic service designed to provide added values to people as well as industry, academia and campus circles using the means of the platform.¡±
